For those who Love and Hate 1.7.1

Recommended Posts

1.7.1 brings a lot of good concepts and improvements to DayZ. Most people seem to love it or hate it.

It's amazed me that people who love it ignore obvious broken mechanics that were introduced. Such as Zombies spawning at alarming rates. Example is me and a friend started to clear out a barn that had a few zombies in it from a hilltop with our ak's, some zombies in the area still agro'd from the noise and we started to gun them down, the didn't stop for some time till I had 30 zombie kills not counting what my friend had, at a isolated barn not near a city. This was addressed by Rocket in another patch (if I find it I'll link it) and should be fixed within 48 hours. Zombies also spawn on each other in large groups in buildings, I have a feeling this won't be completely fixed, but with the spawn rate fixed it'll be only 1 or 2 on top of each other which is manageable. Even if you love the new difficulty (like me) with the spawn rates they are now it's NOT FUN, I was all my ammo just to go into a barn, I play by myself or with 1 other player, it's to much.

Even if you hate the patch you have to agree with some changes such as Zombies being able to be LOS'ed and lost. I see alot of people complain that they can't lose them in the wilderness, which I understand that sucks but again we couldn't lose them before so it shouldn't be to different for you, and with the spawn rate fixed in the near future it'll probably be a manageable amount that you can just clean up. New animations which are great and I seem to find more loot than I did before (not sure) and just overall a lot of good changes came in, don't forget them!

The middle group would be the new difficulty, in my opinion I'm glad it's harder. BUT I do believe to many area's were dialed up all at once increasing the difficulty more than it should be. I would like some area's of increased to be reined in but not all and it would be a more balanced experience that would leave beginners and experienced players alike enjoying the game more.

You all have your opinion but don't bash the others over their view, they're bias posts but hold some truth of warrant (most the time) and there are fixes that need to be done immediately (spawn rate) no matter which side you choose so we all can enjoy our mod.

TL;DR

There's both good and bad things, don't bash the other side, spawn rates will be fixed soon.

EDIT: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=13895 - 1.7.1.1 hotfix is almost here. Read.

Zombie spawn timer broken on full servers.

Zombies spawn in droves on top of you.

FPS issues on full servers.

Loot spawn issues on full servers

Zombie aggro far too extreme. Impossible to sneak past them.

Zombie slap-down insta-death too extreme.

What is there to love in that lot?

I don't see what most of complaining is about other than the obvious spawn bug. I started a new character and had no issue getting geared up around cherno during daytime on a 50/50 server. If you have to shoot a horde of zombies while scavenging you are doing it wrong anyway.

Spawn rates and the issues with attacking through walls (I guess the Raytracing that is mentioned in the patch notes is the reason for this, since they were unable to resolve all issues in time) seems to me to be the main issues that needs to be dealt with before 1.7.1 is really playable.

Damage seems a bit over the top (I've heard stories of people loosing several thousand points of blood to a single hit from a zombie), but this is probably an easier thing to tune than stuff like spawn rates.

I definitively agree with the "too many factors at once" thing. LoS/increased damage would probably have done a good job on their own, but speed, damage, spawn rates (bug, I know) and the increased range (leading to more wall-hacking Z's) was probably too much all at once.

My mate was hit once , broken leg - killed

This just after setting off at my count at least 30 zombies at a hunting stand , not even in a town .

The zombies still spawn very near to players , and one hit bleed outs and broken limbs seem to happen to much , this has made the game much harder and has made group looting a real pain in the face

Everything is agreed except the aggro range. It's fine. Just avoid their LOS and you are okay.

Im all about it... maybe it will help to curve the player base a lil which would not be a bad thing at this point, games made enough hype and is possibly years from happening.. those who like the game for what it is.. will not go anywhere and will either play or wait it out till patched...

Wrong. Avoiding LOS is almost impossible in many situations involving multiple zombies around loot drop locations. No matter how carefully and slowly I pick my way they ALWAYS get aggro'd.

Proof:

* [REVERT] Infected sight based on head not body direction (infected glace around alot, this meant that they had super view directions. Now locked at body direction)

I thank you all for the posts!

Some great news(I'll edit it in my post as well) the hotfix is coming out sooner than the 48 hours he gave us last night.

This fixes most of the issues stated! I think this will bring a lot of balance and enjoyablity to the majority of players!

Get ready for DayZ 1.7.1.1!

This is a really stupid outlook. Every game has its fanboys, but the vast majority will drop this game if another sandbox PvP game comes out while DayZ is just randomly breaking shit.

You get one chance once you've created a buzz. After that, you're no longer new. Very few will come back after leaving, even after you've fixed your shit. That kills games.

I know this means nothing to ArmA players, but BIS probably gives a shit.
