DayZ+ Not saving???

Ok, so i downloaded the dayz+ mod the other day and, well long story short I left the game for a few minutes to take a break and when I went to jump back on i had to start a new character.... So I really didn't care but the next character i started i got an Mp5 and a few other cool things like military clothes, so being cautious i made sure i didn't have to save it or anything. The next day i go to play and i had to restart again. I even went to the same server and everything..... Does dayZ+ just not save through all the servers?
