beta patch can't create directx 9???

I'm trying to start arma through steam with the beta patch and yes im useing -mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion in my target line and ive also tried launching it directly but every time it gives me a DirectX9 3D creation error.... i have a GTX460... why the fuck is DX9 even an issue?

I had that problem, started OA through steam, didn't happen. Not sure if that'll help.
