Montreal server / Linux

Let me introduce myself. Name's Lorden, I'm a sysadmin for a local webhosting company based in Montreal. I got my CTO interested in this mod, ans we're looking to host a Montreal based server. We would PREFER to host it on a Linux box for performance reasons. According to Arma2 wikis, there's plenty of Linux build available -- Are they compatible with the mod? If not, why?

I believe it has to be running on Windows due to the way Hive is coded and/or connects to the main database. Other people that have offered to run it on a Linux box have been told it is not possible due to this reason.

Basically the Hive and HiveAuth programs used to sync the servers and database is not compatible with Linux.
