I just made an account here a couple minutes ago. I bought The War Z yesterday and I've been trying to get into it. I can't. It's fuckin' awful. There's no way DayZ could be worse. I should've known War Z would be a pile of fuck just because of the title. It's a blatant rip off of DayZ. They whole premise is ripped from DayZ, but it's very poorly executed. Their official forum is awful too.

Anyway, the real point of this post is to ask you guys something. If you were me ( I don't have Arma II ), would you wait for the standalone to play DayZ ?

Well the Stand Alone release date is unconfirmed. It could come out next week or in the next couple months. It just depends.

If you want to play more than just DayZ, maybe Arma itself or another mod, then I suggest you buy it. If you only want to play DayZ then I can't say yes or no. It depends if you want to spend the money. Just remember buying Arma doesn't get you a discount for DayZ SA.

I say you might as well buy Arma 2:CO since rocket's not even sure when the game will be released himself, and even if he did you still couldn't 100% take him at his word on it (based on past history). DayZ is extremely fun btw and not only compared to WarZ, but in general.

Yea, I was leaning towards this view of the situation. I've been reading the forum as a guest for a couple days.

It's not even the fact that I was killed quickly by other players in War Z. It's more than that. The game has no pulse. It feels lifeless and cheap. The developers are focusing on minor things and haven't built a solid foundation for the game. I believe Rocket has put some heart into his mod and the Arma II engine will probably feel more realistic because it's an army simulation, right ?

I read there was something to guide me through the installation of it all ? I can't remember what it was called though..

OK, I'm in a game now, but I don't understand the controls well. There must be a pretty steep learning curve for this. I pressed L to use the flashlight, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Should it ?

By the way, this game is much better than War Z.

I'm 1 of those guys who have been waiting for Arma 3 since they announced it...you quickly learn to be patient with Bohemia Interactive. Obviously the reason for the delay is absolutely justified (see sig)

OK, this game and mod is done extremely well. I love the atmosphere and the intricacy of everything ! I figured out how to open my bag and use things. I like how when I'm injured the game emulates that with a graphical post effect. I found some stuff and used a flare to light up a barn I was in.

This game has driven me to get my money back for WarZ. I'll never play that now that I have this.

I've been playing the game a lot lately and it's very addicting to me. I've found some great weapons like double barrel shotguns, crossbows, uzis, and a few different kind of handguns. This game has balance and it makes the game fun.

Can someone explain to me how to disconnect properly ? Is there such a thing ? I mean, do you just disconnect and it saves where you are in the map ? What happens when you're not online ? Where is your character at ?

If someone can explain that basically, i'd appreciate it.

Well,the server saves your char every time to time,so if you find a sweet weapon and want to disconnect,wait 3-5 minutes and you are good.

But remember if you dont spawn with your weapon it is just an error because is alpha :D
