HELP! When i join a server im on my friends account!

My friend bought Arma 2:CO and ive always really really wanted to play dayz and so he let me use his steam to download it and play, soon after we found out we couldnt play together and whenever i get on im on his character. So ibought my own copy and it continued to make me play on his characters, ive tried reinstalling CO and Playwithsix...

Did you buy the copy on your own Steam account or on your friends? Also you can change your name in Arma II OA by entering the game, choosing options and editting the player profile, this won't affect your character. I'm limited in other things I can suggest, hope this helps and next time, don't use your mates accounts :)

I bought it on my account and by his characteri meant i have his weps and he cant loginwhen im on it

His CD key is installed becosue you intalled the game over his account thats why you get his char on your copy (they are key bound).

One way is to delete his Key from your system, i actually dont know how to do this but there a way, most likely you wont get help for it on the Forum becouse all people will think you hacked and want to replace your old key to evade the global ban.

Anoter way that may work is to delete the game and reinstall it over your Steam account.

Or you use the search function the CD key delete thing should be in this forum or atleast an discription on google.

Dont use any 3 Party programms if you google it could be some Keyloggers.

Doh!! Pretty sure there is a guide somewhere on this forum for people that have 2 accounts on the same PC...about switching out the CD keys when the other person wants to play...that might help you, i'll try to find it!

Think this should solve your problem mate...Be aware it says you have to mess with your registry and this can screw your computer so if you don't know what you're doing I'd get someone who does to do it for you!

Thanks! but it didnt work :( i noticed the keys for arma2 are different but on the oa keys they are the same key between my friends and mine. I have no idea why when i click show key on steam for each of them theyre different but on regedit they are the same!! Edited January 3, 2013 by THERIOT

no when i play it on my friends its the same key on regedit when i play it on mine. Its alright you got me heading the right direction ill eventually figure it out thanks anyway :)
