Hey guys, I've just recently started a Youtube gaming channel which will eventually get more DayZ vids on soon, but I have done a video for beginners. If you guys would be so kind to take the time to check it out and give some feed back that would be great! possibly some rates and subscribes if you like it? ;) Anyways, the quality of this video isn't amazing but I have learnt through trail and error and promise better quality videos in the future.

EDIT (09/01/12): I made episode 2, covering some more basics that I may have missed out in the previous video, hope this helps you guys some more. The video is also recorded at 720p making it a higher quality than the last! You can find this at:

It's funny, I've played for about 2 hours now, and I haven't found one single weapon to defend myself with. You at least found a hatchet almost instantly. :P

No problem at all, I'm glad it helped. It's all about luck when it comes to finding a weapon, in the first video I made before this one (I didn't upload because of the amount of mistakes I made) I found an M16 in a deer stand...So yeah lol. I will have more videos to follow soon and at better quality! so be sure to keep an eye on my channel ;)

Thanks a lot guys :D It's going to be tough breaking into Youtube I know that much, with the mass amount of other channels about but I guess the best thing to do is keep making videos and posting them. Cannot wait to get a new monitor so I can record in 1080p lol. I have found a few things that I have missed out in this video, which I will add in the next video. - Dave

You are very welcome, you can find them in military bases and in the woods so watch out for zombies because they spawn around them and that the woods are not always safe.

Approach from the woodland side of a deer stand if possible as anyone nearby will know you're within 200 metres of the deer stand when the zombies spawn in.

Even better, find a good spot 300 metres away where you can scope out anywhere that a sniper could sit waiting for someone to approach the deer stand.

The "DayZ Map /DayZdB" says:

• Building: land_misc_deerstand
  
• Zombie chance: 0%
  
• Zombie count: 0 - 3
  
• Loot chance: 50%
  
• Loot spawns: 2
  

No Zombie chance to spawn. So what are you talking about zombies at deerstands?

At 26:41min you check out how many players are on the server. At the moment, I don't have found a ingame map . So how do one can found out how many players are on the server when you have no map?

I give you 2/5 ooints for this beginner guide. Important parts are missing:

how to deal with zombies in detail (how close can i get to zombies at day /night / when crouching / when walking etc. / on streets /on grass / how to avoid zombies / what about stealth elements etc etc etc).

In your vid I just see you running around in the open like an idiot and asking for shooting and more zombies.

For beginners without any weapon that can't be it.

Well I assure you zombies DO spawn around deerstands, go see for yourself, it will be military zombies that do. I do state in the video that I'm playing a low player count server making me be a bit careless and in order to check the player count, press 'm', in the top left hand corner is a menu, select 'players' this is where you can also mute players. I appreciate what you have said but it seems like some of its been covered... I will make my next video clearer, maybe play a higher player server :o But it was a one take video so trying to remember it all was a bit of a pain.

you can see players by pressing ''p'' too, and mute them by clicking on their name and clicking ''mute''.

yes, deerstands spawn 3 zombies. maybe 0% means 100% because when you don't see them(server lag), be sure that the deerstand will be empty, unless someone else spawned loot inside for you before...

nice little video mate, and you have a nice voice to listen to so thats a plus for breaking in to youtube, but yeah definatly break in to higher player games when the basics are down, but i can totaly see what you mean trying to show people everything in a structured manner and not forgeting what you had planned next is probably very hard when you are getting shot at all the time, also in response to the zombie agro distance question its very much not something that can be shown, as its not a very solid mechanic all the time, zombies will miss you 99% of the time at a certain range but there is always that 1% that they will somehow smack you anyway, agro is a little more predictable but at the same time still seams something you want to air on the side of caution, just try not to get to close, move behind zombies and get prone if you mess up/ need to move past a very close patrol and listen for louder sounds as this means RUN!

Yeah the aggro issue is really hard to predict, zombies can be weird at times. When I record I do it in one take so its hard to think of everything but I hope I covered everything. Will aim for higher player servers in the future :)

Sorry, get sick of 3rd person.

However, you could mention in an annotation or sth that you can turn down the head bob in the options to an unnoticeable amount. (cuz I agree, the standard head bob causes headache)

Sorry about late reply, been a while since I logged back on. Yeah I will aim to, in the tutorial videos the time just goes by quickly when I was filming it. I will make the LP's shorter when I get into it.
