Abysmal Frame rate on a GTX 550TI at low resolutions

I have found this game to be unplayable on my computer even at lower resolutions which I find to be extremely strange. I don't have the best computer out there, but it should easily be able to handle this game at lower resolutions. I have played many games, borderlands 2, skyrim, etc, and have gotten acceptible frame rates at 1920x1080, however this game, I can't manage to get 10 frames a second at half the resolution.

I don't have the best system, but it should still handle this game:

Intel Quad Core Q9300

Zotac Geforce 550TI Overclocked edition with 1 gig of ram (DDR5)

4 gigs of DDR3 ram (not that much, but this isn't the problem)

2 Sata 2 7200 RPM hard drives in a raid 0 array

I have read this forums and have tried everything to no avail. I have tried playing with launch options, setting -winxp even though that's just for mutiple GPU's. I've tried setting my core count to 4, does nothing. I've tried setting my graphics in the game settings to high so it uses GPU, does absolutely thing. I've tried the trick where you edit the config file in my documents and set the two values to 1 on the prerender frames, does nothing.

This is the only game I can't play, and the regular version of the game without the day z mod works fine, it's only the day z mod that kills the system and drops me down to 10 frames a second in cities and makes the game unplayable. This mod has a problem with Nvidia based cards and works better on ATI's from what I"m reading as I've even seen people with GTX 660's having the same frame rate problems. I will not buy an ATI/AMD card just to play one game, so does anyone have any idea how to make this game work on an Nvidia chipset? The only people having problems with the frame rates are usually people with NVidia graphics cards.
