My Luckiest Day On Record

Recommended Posts

Hello all, this is my first story telling thread so please go easy :)

I have been playing DayZ for a long time now, nothing gives me the same rush which I get from DayZ, but today has been one of the more fun gaming sessions I have ever had.

I have recently made 2 of my friends buy the game as I was bored of wandering the wastelands alone.

With them both being new, I had to go find them both and brought them back to Elektro to get suited up.

We approached from the west and headed along the coast, coming across the ports and into the fire station near the church, we found an AK and a Makarov, with me being the more experienced I took the rifle.

As we were on the ground floor waiting for a zombie to cross the street in front of us 2 shots from a DMR were fired which put me right on edge but thought that the shots were not aimed at us, until one whistled over my head, hitting the wall behind me.

With haste we then made way to the church where we found a Winchester, which one of my friends took.

We heard a zombie nearby get aggro'd and at first thought it was a glitch and one had seen us through a wall or something, but my friend saw someone in a ghillie suit stood there with a sniper rifle which he took a shot at with his winchester, tagging him on the leg, the guy ran off but we sat in the church prepared for an attack.

5 Minutes rolled past and there was no sign of movement or any sign of an attack so we rushed out the door ensuring we weren't going to be ambused by anyone and ran into a nearby house, quickly dispatching any zed's that had foolishly chased us, here we found a crossbow and some bolts, so with the 3 of us armed we were ready to move out of Elektro.

My next destination in mind was Mogilevka (if that is what it is called) so we pushed north through Elektro through the back alleys checking for any signs of our escaped sniper or anyone else that we thought would be trouble, sniper shots rang off again but these did not seem to be aimed at us so we continued on our way.

We were approaching the supermarket, and I was well aware that the hills on the left and right of the power station are popular spots for snipers so we ran inside the supermarket hoping for the best, I advised my friends to stay away from any of the open doors in the back because I felt we were being watched.

We managed to get 2 Alice packs (I already had one previously) so both my friends had one, we also found a map, compass and 2 hunting knives, stocked up on food and drink then began planning our escape. By mistake one of my friends opened one of the back doors which must have attracted a sniper on the outskirts as immediately sniper fire began pinning my friend to the wall, he managed to run out of the room and we regrouped in the main entrance room of the market then quickly ran towards the coast, leading any following walkers into a house, killing them off as they bottlenecked through the door.

Once all was calm we flanked round past the docks once more on the west side of Elektro, heading up one of the sniper hills carefully to not get spotted.

We were finally free of the troubles of the major cities and headed for Mogilevka.

After a good 20 minute run we finally arrived, quickly looting 3 buildings, gathering mainly food and more ammo, we pushed North-West to Stary Sobor.

We looted the military tents finding an M4, DMR and AK-47 Kobra.

I took the Kobra and put the DMR and 2 mags in my pack for later use, we then decided to head out to the NE airfield, upon leaving Stary Sobor, we found a crashed heli which we couldn't believe, we killed off any zombies nearby finally going in to claim our reward, unfortunately it seemed someone else had spotted it before us and beat us to it.

Pushing East for roughly 10 minutes, we came across ANOTHER crashed heli and this we could not believe, mainly because of how close the 2 were together and how lucky we were to find them both!

Hoping for better loot than the last one, we again took out all the nearby zombies and moved in, nothing exciting found just alot of medical supplies, which of course are useful so we packed up the blood bags, morphine and painkillers and moved on.

We continued NE for a good while until I managed to get us lost, we pushed through many a random forest keeping an eye out for any tents we could loot, but we spotted a break in the trees with what looked to be a main road, heading in that direction we could not believe our eyes once we approached the crown of the hill, a Truck hidden amongst the trees, with ammo, medical supplies, food and some parts for vehicles all in the back.

I jumped into the driver seat just to find out the Truck was running on empty, luckily the previous owners were nice enough to leave us 2 full jerry cans in the truck which we put to use.

The truck itself was in pretty bad shape but the parts we needed were not in the back of the vehicle so we carried on as we were.

After a while I finally found out where we were and we were back on track to the NE airfield.

Not knowing whether any players were there, we parked up not too far away with 1 of my friends guarding the truck, the other 2 of us grabbed the 7 empty fuel cans in the back of the truck and made our way up to the airfield on foot.

We scouted the area to find it was clear, so filled up the cans, checked the area for loot, but nothing exciting was found so we scurried back to the truck to fill her up.

We moved the truck up to the airfield to fill up the cans we had used to fill the truck to the brim.

It was then getting dark on the server so we decided to hide the truck and call it a day.

Tomorrows mission is to travel to berezino and look for the parts we need.

May not sound much, but it is certainly the best amount of luck I have ever had in one sitting of DayZ.

Thankyou if you read this all, if not, meh.

Its a good diary of your 1st mission together with your "friends". Keep on writing.

A bit of satire.....

1. You mention you made your friends buy the game. Typically, people do not have formal authority over their friends, so it reminded me of the 1982 RIchard Pryor movie "The Toy" and that you were an affluent white kid who had his father buy him some playmates. This is reinforced later in the game by your hoarding of the DMR in your backpack. My question is how much did you buy your friends for? And are you this mean to everyone? :)

2. The zombies "foolishly" chased us. Zombies is capable of thought would chase you as a matter of normal behavior, if they did not chase you and they could reason then that would be foolish. However, as far as I know, zombies do not reason and therefore they are not capable of being foolish...or brave...or possessing any trait those capable of reason are.

3. My friend was pinned against the wall by the sniper. I envision a sniper shooting a gun loaded with throwing knives.

4. We were on our way to Mogilevka.....for 90% of the readers you may have well said you are on your way to the house two blocks down to the west from yours. Rather, we were on our way to XXXX, a small town, about XXX from a major landmark most people who play the map would know...such as next to the wardrobe that leads to Narnia.

5. More theatrics. You should have used 1 of those Jerry Cans as a zombie or player ambush weapon by shooting it from afar when enemies were near. One of your friends should have shot another one of the friends with the crossbow in the butt, that sort of thing is always funny. Sure there is action...but where is the love story...I know me and at least 1 other reader on this forum are always looking to hear about more romance in DayZ.....one of your other friends could have killed a zed and then realized it was his former girlfriend who turned...and that he still had his lucky condom that he never got to use in his wallet...or that it began to rain and you were all so cold you had to cuttle up in the tent together at your campsite on brokeback mountain...which is a bit north of the hershey highway and the old dirt road. :)

6A. Stop and set up some ambushes every now and then.

6B.Light a campfire and tell the bambies some scary stories.

Seriously, good work. A definite thumbs up....

Well not sure what the guy above me is talking about but that's a brilliant story! I had a great day as well, taking out 2 players and engaging another 3 before unfortunately dying, losing 30 days of work (DMR, NVG, FN FAL)

I wish you luck in the future, if you ever want to have another player join your squad then hit me up on Skype: Cazamarooney

Good luck in DayZ trying to teach your friends how to play well, it seems like they're doing pretty well already! Good luck finding the ghillied sniper

Thankyou for the feedback.

1. I have been friends with both people since my school days, I bought one of them Arma 2 CO as a christmas present because he told me he wanted to play DayZ, the other just went ahead and bought it once we told him how much fun we were having and that he should join. As for the DMR, I only took it because I play ARMA 2 and have experience using the sniper in game and thought it would be best for me to take because I understand the bullet drop and other mechanics with the sniper, once they understand the game a bit more then yes they can also use it, DMR mags are quite hard to come by so I wouldn't want them using it and wasting the ammo.

2. Aye, they are incapable of thought but they just ran into the wrong end of my gun, so to me, they were foolish.

3.By that I meant, the position my friend was stood, had he moved any part of his body and it would have been instant chop suey, the bullets were narrowly skimming him as it was and I watched the bullets hit the wall, inches from his head.

4. Well I'm not sure about many other people, but I look at the map very often, I don't go anywhere until I have a route layed out for myself to get maximum looting in the safest path possible, so noting down the names of the towns can be very handy as you know which ones are safe and which can have other players trying to kill you in.

5. The romance happened when we found the truck, we are all majorly in love with her, causing a love triangle.

6A. Ambushes shall happen, I just want to get my friends used to the game mechanics first and get some combat training under their belt before we set up ambushes.

6B. We already do that ;)

Again, thanks for the feedback.

I hate when a good run of survival comes to an end, my longest so far was 72 days, then kiddie scripters got me :(.

Nice going killing the 2 players first though!

Sure, we could probably use an extra hand so I will add you now :)

Thanks, good luck getting some more gear together!

Ahh damn, yeah tapped one of them twice in the chest with FN FAL and other one I tapped about 20 times with M4A1 after she thought I was down since she shot me before-hand on the top level of the ATC. I'll have to look around for more gear, risky stuff though! I've added you on skype as well, speak to you soon!
