Can I run Dayz with a single core processor?

Recommended Posts

Right now I have a Pentium 4 cpu 3.40 GHz processor, single core, it fits a PPGA478 socket, I was gonna upgrade to a Core 2 Duo, but that one fits a LGA775 socket if i'm not wrong. Since all the dual cores I know of fit this socket I was wondering if there are any single core processors capable of running dayz or any dual cores that are compatible with my motherboard. I really don't have the money for a new motherboard right now so if anyone knows anything please help!!

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

You're most likely going to struggle as ARMA can be very CPU dependant. However, if you set everything on low, there's a chance!

TBH I wouldn't recommend trying to play ArmA 2 or DayZ on anything less than a quad-core. There are probably some dual-cores that can run the game relatively smoothly on low settings but I'm not sure a rig with a single core CPU will even open the game without giving you an error message.

what you should try first is downloading Arma Free to play. and see if it works for you. if it does, then go ahead for Arma 2 and Dayz

You can run the game on a dual core with the right settings and edited config files, with 30+ fps in woods. Single core would be tricky, and as you can imagine, the fps would be quite low. It could work but would probably be a frustrating experience.

I run a dual-core i5, and it runs Arma completely fine on High Settings.
