Sick of being KOS'd, need to becone survivor

Hi, I really need help or advice becoming a survivor. I've had two kills in DayZ. My first was when a buddy giving me a flight saw another heli on the ground, guy next to it. I was in door gunner so my buddy told me to go for it. Secondly, minutes after a server restart, I was at the north airfield in Panthera, in the control tower, second floor. As I'm running downstairs I see a guy go running right past me, hiding from zombies under the stairs. What else could I do? I would've had to pass him, so I pulled out my Winchester and killed him. I really am a kind and friendly player, I have never shot bullets at players except those two times. I've been backstabbed many times, and upon calling out friendly, many other players have pulled out their DMR, laughed in my face, "hah no you aren't, you're a bandit!", and shot me. I have a few people that trust me and have helped me out, but I need to lose this skin. Help or advice please?

Tl;dr: advice needed to lose bandit skin, I'm 100% friendly.

Over time, you will slowly gain back humanity (as long as you don't murder anymore people of course :P ). The fastest way is generally through bandaging, blood bagging, and giving morphine to other survivors, although this will, of course, be exceptionally hard since pretty much no one but your closest friends trust you. I'm not sure, but killing zombies should also give you some humanity, albeit not much. What level is it at right now?

Only thing you can do is just help people. But with you having the bandit skin, not many people are going to trust you. You, really can't do anything. It falls on the other players. Natural reaction is, bandit = death. That's just the way the community is.

Sounds like you're more like 90% friendly :P

TBH I would probably kill you just because you are a bandit. Try and get a good reputation on your most common server

How do I check my humanity level now that the debug monitor is gone? And I'm trying as hard as I can to get a good reputation on the server I play on, but I'll go running up to someone that's bleeding and tell them I'll bandage them, but they just turn and shoot me. Not app bandits are bad, guys :(

There are some servers that have their own debug monitors. I don't know if they show the correct humanity but mine was 3720, which sounds quite right.

I've found it somewhat easy to gain humanity by running around in Cherno and between Kamenka and Komarovo, helping freshly spawned ppl medically or in another ways.

BTW, is the Hero-status still available at 5k humanity?
