Character not saving!

Ive just started played yesterday and while i dont find it a big problem now (since im still learning how to play) i find the fact that my chracter never saves kind of annoying. I had collected some things (mostly easy things to find) and now , everything is gone. This has happened everytime i start playing.

when i disconnect i do it through ESC and the normal exit pathway.

I never disconnected because of connection problems nor via alt+f4.

I have the latest version of dayz and im currently using dayz commander..

What should i do?

Edit: Fixed by using checking the option to launch using steam in dayz commader
