Performance drop rapidly intermittent

Fresh install of both DayZ and Arma2, and DayZ keeps freezing every few seconds before continuing like normal.

I've noticed when it does freeze, my cpu usage drops to idling levels before jumping back up when the game becomes active again. Any ideas?

Actually noticed something else; it's not just cpu, it's also graphics usage. The charts tracking how much is being used look like very pointy sine waves. Just constant use and neglect. It's as if the program is just completely stopping briefly. Has anyone experienced this?

Unfortunately, it did not. It's just a constant stopping of the program that only lasts a few seconds. When it's running though, it runs very smoothly.

Possibly try running it as admin (try running steam and OA/CO as admin).

Already am. Only other thing I could think of is that I have to use the original launcher as the new one requires a .net framework that won't install even if I do it manually. I may need to take care of that first.
