Make it more REAL

Recommended Posts

Here are my suggestions to add to the game:

**Zombie Child- You never see kids in zombie movies or hardly ever in harms way. However, children are a fact of life and exist. It would be very cool to see a little girl zombie with pigtails and holding a doll walking around towns.

**Zombie Disease- If a player dies by a zombie bite, the corpse should remain able to be looted for 5 mins. After 5 mins, the body should stand, and become another member of the undead.

**Head Shots- If a player gets shot in the head, it should be a real head shot and kill the player in 1 or 2 hits. If it takes 2 shots, then the player should be rendered unconscious for a small amount of time.

**Start Items- Players should start with at least the following items: matches, pocket knife(hunting knife), bandage, drink, food, and a melee weapon.

**Melee Weapons- Players that run out of ammo should have the option to pick up a pipe or piece of wood, or maybe fine a baseball bat and use them to protect themselves from the undead.

**Animals- Chicken, Deer, Boars, and all the rest in the game, should have the ability to aggro a zombie and be eaten(another form of distraction). Also more animals should be in the woods.

Thanks for reading my suggestions....

Let's discuss your opinions them.

1) This idea is pretty cool, but I think it would mess with the hitboxes because every model is the same height in ARMA.

2) Having a separate timer from dying by zombies as opposed to a player would be resource consuming and rather useless. I do however like the idea of having the body reanimate, but I don't know how feasible it would be because the model would have to change from a player to AI, switch to the zombie model (which would look unrealistic), then get up and start walking around.

3) Headshots have been a part of the game since the first ARMA.

4) The current system in place with the 1.7.1 update is great.

5) Melee would be clunky and weird feeling with the ARMA engine, its been discussed in many other threads.

6) Zombies don't eat animals according to "The Zombie Survival Guide", though I don't know how rocket's envision of zombies is towards animals.

1: Children are protected in media. Violence against children would cause huge problems for BI. And they SHOULD be protected in the media. I have no interest in shooting a child regardless of their state of decomposition.

2: AGAIN. Zombies in this game are not undead ghouls. They are infected humans. Killed by zombies in this game means you have been savagely beaten to death and eaten. There is no reanimation.

3: See above post.

4: The starting loadout is still being tested. In the most recent patch the starting loadout was reduced. It may change again. Be patient.

5: Melee may be difficult and clunky in the Arma system, but I never understood that because military units are trained in hand to hand and bayonet fighting. There's got to be a way to swing a stick or whatever. Even if it is clunky, it's something rather than nothing.

6: Animals are rarely close enough to zombies to aggro them anyway. I did see a goat running in place on an airfield the other night, but that was just one time. But for the most part, I do think that if a cow wanders too close to zombies, they should rush it and chow down. This presents tactical scenarios and options as well as a bit of non game-breaking realism. And I think more boars should appear in forests. I see plenty of bunnies, but few boars.

Yeah, there are no zombies in this game. I do not even know why it is called DayZ.

Fast or slow, zombies are reanimated corpses. DayZ has people who are infected like in 28 Days Later. Not zombies. That probably should not bother me so much, but it does.

You are 100% correct but to avoid confusion I refer to the infected as Zombies because that's what they're called in the game and that's how the casual observer sees them.

In fact, Rocket refers to them as Infected. I think I'm going to just start calling them that from now on. With a capital I.

There is a debate whether a zombie and infected are different or one in the same. To me they are the same. Here is why:

1) In movies like "28 days later" and "Dawn of the Dead" any one bite will turn into a zombie or the infected. Both types of creature attack in the same way, hitting and biting. Hate for humankind as well.

2) Zombies and Infected have a very similar look. Eyes are usually jacked up and they're both usually bleeding, from suffering from an attack themselves before the change from human.

3) Zombies never came from graves as a few horror movies in the 80's tried to do. The idea was only an illusion to create fear back then. Think about it, zombies escaping their caskets and digging through 6 feet of packed dirt. Awfully strong Zombie.

So whether you call them infected or zombies or undead, they are all the same. There were a few cases in 28 weeks later, where a human was attacked by an infected, then died and reanimated.

I personally call them "walkers". I referred to them as zombies in my post due to the many people who never reference zombies to infected. It's all the same either way.

No, it is not the same. Zombies are reanimated corpses. If it is not a reanimated corpse, it is not a zombie. It is not the same, it just is not important.

But it's not the same.

5) Melee would be clunky and weird feeling with the ARMA engine' date=' its been discussed in many other threads.[/quote']

This is conjecture based on implementation in other mods. I haven't heard anything official from either BIS or the DayZ team that this is impossible or even improbable. I for one think it is the most glaringly missing feature in this mod. People don't talk about it mostly because they just believe everything they read, which usually consists of some forum person with no connection to the team saying something like the above.

It needs to be put in.

Yeah, I agree, but I don't think rocket does.

"I liked Dead Island but it wasn't really for me' date='" says Hall, "partly because I didn't really feel a connection with my character. But also I prefer weapons, because I think I tend to panic when I get in close combat. I was in the army up until fairly recently and I found the close combat stuff quite difficult. And so it was very hard for my character in Dead Island to play with the weapon."[/quote']

So, maybe it will get implemented at some point, but it is not a priority.

Walkers.... what is this "The Walking Dead" bullshit? Are you going to start calling the crossbow as "Deryl's gun"?

They are "zombies". Go to http://dayzmod.com/. On the right hand side. Below survival attempts it says "ZOMBIES killed". And who says that those creatures were never dead? They are called zombies until Rocket starts referring them as "infected".
