theirongiant 200 Posted December 29, 2012 Just a simple addition, have the game tell who killed you. Can't think of any reason why it shouldn't and it'd add an extra bit of drama to the proceedings.
Welch (DayZ) 756 Posted December 29, 2012 It'd be too much drama, man. People would get in huge fights, and why's it matter who killed you? You're supposed to be dead, then when you respawn, you're a whole new person with no connections to your past life.

Chris529 380 Posted December 29, 2012 (edited) haha I laughed a bit when I saw those 2 threads right next to each other in recent radio chatter xDOT: some servers have a global message saying *killer* killed *victim* with *weapon*, I was on a private hive that had this. theirongiant 200 Posted December 29, 2012 Haha if it was me then my bad dude lolDon't think so, although i might have been the guy that shot and missed then ran away. That sounds like my MO
Testwd3r235 2810 Posted December 29, 2012 This would suck, the point of dayz is realism. In the real world people don't remember their past life if they were murdered in it nor do they know the name of who did it...

russellcoles@tiscali.co.uk 0 Posted December 29, 2012 I want to know who just killed me. They teleported me to them and shot me before I could react. It would make it a lot easier to report hackers to server admins etc. if we knew the name of the person who just shot us.
privatewolf 59 Posted December 29, 2012 I think it's already a small add-on on some private hives, from time to time I can see kill messages like these on some servers:WolfSixNiner was killed - AS50or even..WolfSixNiner was killed by TheThirdReichbut that's not implemented on all servers.. Quartermaine 34 Posted December 30, 2012 Seems like it would take away from the spirit of DayZ. In a post appocalyptic scenario like this, where you have to survive, it would be unreasonable (in context) for players to be chasing eachother over the map based on bad blood in the past. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted December 30, 2012 With private hives we can already add death message if we want including the weapon used. Everywhere I've played, people hate it and it get's removed. With regards to it helping deal with hackers it's not needed, we have logs.
WiFiN 55 Posted December 30, 2012 No. Totally against it.As it was said before - if you die, you are completely new person.People killing eachother just for the sake of revenge just out of magical knowledge who killed them only provokes more deathmatch. scoffield77@gmail.com 192 Posted December 30, 2012 (edited) I'd rather keep it in the unkown, You're suppose to be starting a new life, a new player. Based on the idea of "Perma death"The game should keep as much information away from the player as humanly possible upon death.. to make sure "perma death" doesn't turn in to another ol' arcade re-spawn game. MOS182 63 Posted December 30, 2012 I think only the player who got killed finds out who's killed them. That way the rest of the server isn't sure how said player got killed
badluckburt 974 Posted December 30, 2012 I think they shouldn't even show the 'Player was killed' message to everyone when you kill someone, I pray it'll be like that in the SA.Image if someone kills you and afterwards they get killed by someone else, you both spawn close together and decide to team up after running into each other. When exchanging 'how did your last dude die?' stories, there's always the chance of finding out you teamed up with your killer but when you don't there's also the possibility of being completely oblivious and having fun together. plrsniper 87 Posted December 31, 2012 No... Just no!I killed two fully kitted guys the other day and i didn't want them to know who i was so they could hunt me down all day. Now sure, it wouldn't matter because i don't give away my position on sidechat anyways but in the odd chance they know where i have been or are going to be i don't want them to take advantage of the fact they know who killed them. However, the guys i killed where part of the clan that runs the server so i am sure someone looked it up in the logs and later looked up where my camp was because my camp was well hidden and undisturbed for days until after that day. Then it suddenly was raided and my cars had all it's tires blown out. (A normal person would take my vehicles with him but i am sure they have enough vehicles as it is since they run the hive and can spawn stuff and have been playing since before anyone every played on that hive)
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted December 31, 2012 @X0TCadde - I've had the same thing happen, except in the 5-10 minutes it took me to run to my camp, the guy had died, respawned, found my chopper and stolen it.Needless to say, I was slightly suspicious. But most (not all) private hives are hosted just so the admins can do what they want. Hacks and all.Death messages shouldn't be included in DayZ at all, for the simple fact that after striving for immersion and authenticity, having everyone know when anybody dies, is a MAJOR step in the wrong direction.Letting players know who killed them just turns our perma-death anti-game into arcade pish.
