HeavyHDx 2 Posted December 28, 2012 Hi :)this is just a random idea i got while playing FarCry 3, in FC3 you have to hunt Animals and get their skin to craft other things out of this skin like backpacks or ammo-packs!I'd love to see a similar system in the Standalone-Version of DayZ, animals in the current state are just good for food, but they have so much more^^Just let me know what you think :)
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted December 28, 2012 I've just been playing FC3 too, great game.Don't worry, there will be crafting elements in DayZ SA, potentially including customisable vehicles too.
Armaggedon97 33 Posted December 28, 2012 Yeah, I loved that about FC3, it made hunting interesting, especially since it had hostile animals (sth DayZ lacks as of now, but I heard it's going to be added in the SA). I would love to have a choice in how to upgrade my equipment. Let's say I go to a military base for a Coyote Backpack, but I don't find one, but if I search a bookshelf it could have a somewhat-larger-than-a-backpack-spawning chance to contain a crafting recipe for it, then I could go hunting in order to upgrade into such a backpack instead of camping out of the base until I find it. I thing such a mechanic would add quite a bit of variety in the game than just looting for stuff and basing everything on luck.
madhellsing 31 Posted December 28, 2012 This would be awesome to do and would be great to make custom like one of a kind backpacs that one can trade kinda like on the game Armored Core where people craft their own sick emblems out of other emblems to make something unique that everyone trades. this would be cool for weapons too. WiFiN 55 Posted December 29, 2012 I'd like to have a lot of improvised stuff. Like a tripflare out of fireworks, cord and a lighter. A l4D-style pipe bomb out of a grenade, some wires and a fan horn. A zombie-slasher out of lawn trimmer and a circular saw blade (though this might be a bit over the edge). Yeah, suppressors made out of plastic bottles and duct tape are good too,
