Well, I'm about to buy the game Arma II: Combined Operations on steam, and I was wondering if I needed to own the disc to play DayZ. I hope I can just buy it off steam and then install the DayZ mod on it, I don't know if you can though.

So basically... Here's my question - Do I need to own the Arma II: Combined Operations disc to play DayZ, or can I just buy the game off steam without the disc?

Also I was wondering if the DayZ mod is hard to get on Arma II: Combined Operations?

You can use the Steam version perfectly fine.

EDIT:

Use DayZ Commander: http://www.dayzcommander.com/ and you can install DayZ with the click of a button.

So do I just buy Arma II: Combined Operations, then download DayZ? is that it? I thought you had to move the DayZ mod files or something over to the Arma II: Combined Operations folder or something like that. :S

He's already told you, get dayz commander and use the install latest dayz option from there. That is the least you can do, next step would be to give us a VNC connection to install it for you.

He still didn't answer my question... I asked if you needed to put DayZ files into Arma II: Combined Operations folder. I didn't know that all you have to do is download it then run it, then play, you could of just told me...

Again: Download DayzCommander, install and run it. It will do everything for you - you don't have worry about moving/doing anything else.

Just a heads up, before you do, run Steam as admin, run Arma2, close, run OA, close, then install. Steam needs to write to registry before you get it working.
