Alarms

Alarms

alarms would be an effective way of knowing what's going on but also sometimes disorientate you (so a perfect mix with what DayZ wants to do)Just think: you're running through a field towards a Jeep and you hear an alarm what would you do? duck down behind cover or sprint for your life and what about the zombies hearing it from afar...you cant just stand and hope? and what if you're the sniper who isn't paying attention and then hearing the alarm scrambling to get the shot on the person trying to steal your transport.or maybe a nearby player looking for who shot at him just before what would you do? run towards thinking it could lead to the bandit sniper or run thinking that it was a trap?...it would also be a fun way to kill players: a satchel charge placed next to a dead body and placing a proximity alarm under the corpse and waiting for the alarm to be triggered then *RING..BOOM!*

Counters

these alarms would add a lot of tension in the game and make players take precautions before making a move on anything valuable....like throwing a tin can in the general proximity of it and then the path towards it...tell me what you think or even add to this

It will just turn into a shitty Call of Duty 'Plant Claymores because I can't kill you any other way'-fest.

What Rossums said, Its your own risk leaving vehicle/tent unattended, a vehicle in DayZ should never belong to anyone, its everyone's for the taking.

not really because players will be cautions around dangerous areas (houses, rare loot spawns, vehicle spawns) and crawling should make it so the alarm couldn't detect you as easy but animals could also set it off confusing the person trying to keep it safe and causing him to fire (attracting players and zombies) making it worse for the player

yes but the alarm shouldn't be able to be heard past 200 meters so if a player does stray too far it is his/hers fault for being care free but parking a car in a bush say 50 yards away from were you are going shouldnt be your fault...unless you park it in plain sight
