About spawning with almost nothing

Recommended Posts

Whos idea was this? This is really not a good thing to do... I bet anyone would have grabbed a flask of some sort, and some food, before they left their homes. And what about the makarov? Now you dont have anything to defend yourself with when you start. One zombie notices you, and youre screwed.

I say bring back makarov with atleast 2 magasines, and a canteen of water, and one box of beans.

And dont tell me people will teamwork if you have no guns at start, the first one to find one, gets more loot.

There are other mechanics to counter the "naked respawn" you're talking about, such as zombie line of sight and starting with a flashlight (which means you can play at night now and not be seen as easily by a zombie).

I'd get used to it because I'm sure pretty soon you won't start with ANYTHING, not even a bag. You know why your guy wakes up on a shore? Most likely he jumped ship or his ship crashed and he had to swim to land, and we all know what happens when you swim - you lose pretty much all your gear including your bag.

Okay now to make the thread more productive.

What exactly did you do that got you killed?

Was there anything that you could have done differently? If the answer is yes, then you need to go back and do that.

I see you didn't get the memo,

You'll be my first response and post on the forum \o/

Why was the weapon, along with essential goods removed from the spawn cluster in the new update, what response would you like to hear? The logical, or the straight forward? Well logically why would you even wash up on a shore in the middle of nowhere in an eastern European country with nothing but a pistol which you 'magically found' and a nice stash of food and medical supplies ready to take on the zombie apocalypse by running into the first person you see and shooting them within ten minutes of playing for the hell of it and their beans... Wait..

But to be serious, this is supposed to be your dawning, imagine the doorstep of your house being the shore at the end of the world, gunna go grab your trusty makarov from the top draw? No, but you're right in saying you would at least grab some food. This new fundamental aspect of the game makes you act upon the very logic you have put forward.. Rather than saying: Alright, time to shoot some random people I find on the way to Cherno, you instead realise the panic of your situation. You have no food, no form of defence, in a world which is without a doubt unforgiving, this is DayZ, or at least what Rocket it intending it to be.

The dangers more sudden and close, the need to ask others for help is there sooner but still not needed for those who would rather go it alone, the instant urge to survive rather than thrive of others or go get a revenge kill on that guy who shot you up in the castle is right in your face the moment you start playing. Maybe you disagree with this new change, but that is the fact of what this change hopes to bring to the table with players new and old, and with the way Rocket is putting this alpha in forms of direction its going to probably get a lot worse in regards to the environment over that asshat with a rifle on top of Elek. This isn't for the best, but it wasn't meant to be, so take it on the chin or find another game.. No harshness intended.

Richocet:.

Just don't get noticed by zombies? I looted 6 deer stands and 2 towns and didn't aggro any zombies, seriously it's not that hard. Go prone, don't crawl right in front of zombies, listen to where they are and plan your route accordingly. Also don't hang around the coast, head for the tree line after you spawn and just keep going north hitting deer stands and barns until you have a weapon and some supplies.

Noobs crying ;D

Im not crying' date=' i havent even played 1.7.1 (or whatever)

I just feel this is really unrealistic right now, and having no way to defend themselves when being chased by zombies is not a good thing. Ive been in many situations where zombies just started chasing me. Not fun. So its pretty much; Be seen; Respawn.

Im pretty sure the coast was only a good place for a spawn.

The changes don't really effect encounters with zombies, as people have said the torch allows people to play at night where zombies are basically oblivious to your presence and you can now "hide" when zombies are chasing you.

What it will change is how people react to players.

Since people don't spawn with a weapon running into an armed player is now a major threat (you shouldn't bring a torch to a gunfight)

So new players are going to try and avoid them by heading inland (where they are less likely to run into people as they are further away from the MAJOR loot spawns) and to scavenge more safely until they are re-armed. The old system encouraged being a "lazy survivor" since it was much easier to kill someone and get their stuff then scavenge for half an hour. Now scavenging is essential as your food is ticking down from the moment you spawn. The extra scavenging taking place will also distribute players more evenly round the map since people are going to be traveling more searching for a gun and therefore make encountering someone else all the more rare and terrifying

I can see where people are coming from with the "can't fight back to zombies" argument but if the hiding the mechanic works properly then being without a weapon just adds an entire new layer of danger and terror to DayZ.

Hiding in a building waiting for the growls and groans from the other side of the wall to fade YES PLEASE.

It's a survival game, what did you expect? Do you think that in real life situations every survivor will have a gun? No. Most realistic is to start without anything, since you're "new" to the apocalypse and have to work your way up, getting gear etc.

It is supposed to be difficult.
