Forahilarm 0 Posted December 24, 2012 I've looked over a couple of the forum posts here, and I've wanted to play DayZ for a while now but money has never been quite available. With the Steam Holiday Sale going on, I was able to buy ARMA 2 and OA. I understand the gist of the game and am sure to learn the mechanics as I go. Any tips regarding what I ought to do first, good places look, or places to avoid, etc.(At least if such help can be given)
darknight558 41 Posted December 24, 2012 (edited) -Hit the main cities (Cherno and Elektro) because they spawn the most loot, and get out of there as fast as you can once you get a good amount of supplies. Those cities are the main pvp hub in the game.-Don't bother going for vehicle parts until you have a decent hold of the game, vehicles are the number one way of getting yourself killed. They are loud, make you defenseless, and force you to go on roads.- Hang in groups, people love to quickly pop one in your head and get away with your gear. Hanging in groups makes it much more intimidating, and may make them just avoid you entirely-Avoid conflict with people: I bet half the people here will tell you trust no one. But there are many good people out there, only fire upon people that seem to threaten you. The best experiences of this game is coming out of a random encounter with a new friend.Steam Profile:http://steamcommunit...d/darknight558/Steam Group:http://steamcommunit...groups/TAB-DayZ Edited December 24, 2012 by darknight558
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted December 24, 2012 where did you spawn? if your lucky and its kamenka put the water to your right side and start barreling to cherno for gear pit stop @ Balota Airfield on the way and hit the mil tents with deerstands prepare mentally for death so your are not disappointed when it occurs. If you got the sol spawn put the water to your right and follow the road up to berezino for gear then hit the NEAF. anywhere else inbetween you can run around and find gear in barns then pick the next city to hit. Ratsmon 131 Posted December 24, 2012 The title matches, you obviously didnt look so far. Since the stand alone(That's right, the game itself) is soon comming out on steam itself, you probably wasted money, not to worry tho, others will still play on Arma 2 CO.. Probably untill they get money to buy the standalone.. So yeah, you should've waited but meh, my opinion. I suggest you try to find groups if not then just go to towns, loot, be on your guard, when you get enough loot(Bandages, blood bags, weapons, ammo, food, water) you go scavange some more around towns and woods to look for people and if you have a bandit style, go and kill them and pick up some more loot. If you're a survivor then save people, help people and continue the population of earth..:D
Nuubio 61 Posted December 24, 2012 I bought the game today as well but I doubt I wasted any money on it because I'm pretty sure the SA release will be delayed by a month or so.

Was 2012, now 2013. Besides, I'd like to get my feet wet now, and Arma is pretty cool to mess with it seems. :)
