Generators...

So i know these have already been brought up in the whole light posts in the street topic etc that rocket added then took out, but here is my point of view on generators.

I think a really good idea would be to add generators to some random houses on the map cos realistically if a zombie apocalypse happened and the power went out some people are going to have generators. The generators would be a rare spawn. Now these could be broken when found, to repair them you use scrap metal and use fuel to keep them going. Now they maybe dont pose as much advantage to the person who fixes one apart from maybe you can transport them back to your base and use it to light up your base etc.

To nerf the idea a little and to make it more fair, to transport the generator you maybe have to do it in parts as you are not going to be able to carry a generator inside your backpack. If you wanted to add more detail you could add small flood lights which have a rare chance of spawning which you can find, repair and take your base and hook up to your base and have these lit up.

Now how cool would it be if you was walking across the fields in the night and you spot light in the distance and walk towards it uncovering the abandoned factory in Chenarus, flood lights on he walls light up the ground around it, you can see the silhouttes of the zombies in the light all wondering around the walls in the light.

It would add so much atmospshere into the game like it would if you was watching this situation as a scene from Walking Dead or another zombie film!

More uses for the generator:

working well, electric barbed wire fence that actually hurt zeds, battery charging, stoves, floodlights, lamps, communication devices (if there was no Side Chat), etc.

What do you guys think?

It´s great. But it should'nt be only for lood lights. Should be also used to load batteries (for nvgs or flashlight etc)

Yeah floodlights was just a suggestion, obviously this topic is open for discussion for others uses etc :D

Crafting in general for multiple things would be nice. With a generator you could get a working well, electric barbed wire fence that actually hurt zeds, battery charging, stoves, floodlights, lamps, communication devices (if there was no Side Chat), etc.

I like the idea. After watching Red Dawn I wanted a generator powered by burning wood, then have an axe and live in a cabin in the middle of the woods.

Sound's like heaven!

The negative side effect would be the sound, they should be loud to hear from a DISTANCE. This would even out the benefit of having one, picture most Zeds lore which has a generator (for lights, power, food etc) they are always Zed congregation points.

They would only be used for quick use facilities, like powering your Batteries or jump starting a car (Let's face it they have been stood over 5 years, the batteries will be deader than the infected)

I would frown on long term use due to fuel consumption requirements.

What i think would be an easy way to transport the generator in one piece would be to get a Ural truck, load it in the back and transport it to your base. Plus in order to transport it in the truck you should have to find something to tie it down with, like a rope. You should be able to power a certain amount of electrical devices.

I like the idea.

maybe generators could be used to run the elevator in the hotels, with wich you can reach higher floors with massive loot and zeds (maybe as a instance) but these generators have to be highly damaged so you have to put some effort into it
