The Ironic Irony of it All...

Recommended Posts

DayZ is a mod, and no doubt when the SA comes out, what will there be? Mods for DayZ!

So what will the mods be? Let's see...

The class system and skill trees. That will probably be a big one.

More gore. People have been asking for this.

More weapons.

More zombies.

So what do you guys think?

What other mods do you think people will make for the SA?

How do you think it will affect the game?

I think it will give player minorities satisfaction.

Will modding even be possible due to distribution of server software and liscenses to run, as well as having just one minor mod difference in a whole server?

Discussion.

I think mods will be VERY hard, if not impossible, for third-party members to implement.

Since it's a client-server type model and we require a connection with the main DayZ server it really can't happen without any support from Rocket and the team and I can guarantee that won't be their straight off the bat, if ever.

Yup, Rocket talked at length about it and for a good while it won't be modable. He didn't like having to make that decision as at heart he is a modder and would love people to mod it.

In the long term it may be opened up for modding but that is a long way off.

(I'm sure I could have written that better but you get my point)

That is, unless they make a DayZ version that isn't Hive oriented. They'd basically have to make it work like wasteland. Maybe rocket will let developers put their mods up for compatibility on a site, like I think Minecraft should do with their XBLA version.

To keep it secure they won't want anyone having access to the code. That's it in a nutshell really, sucks but true. Arma3 will be moddable though so there's much fun to be had there.
