Can Zeds See Through Smoke?

Quick (stupid) question, can you use smoke grenades to stop Zeds from seeing you?

Smoke grenades pull the aggro off of you, and attracts nearby zombies towards it. But will also give away your position to other players.

Throw smoke grenades as far as you can and make sure the zeds can see the smoke. They will run towards the smoke and dance around it buying you a little time. Never get into the smoke by yourself, cause it attracts the zeds and other players also.
