In the happening of a zombie apocalypse the majority of people would lock themselves in their homes until they were in need of supplies then venture out with the exception of a few unlocked/open doors.Hopefully these ideas could make the game harder/and slow it down while encouraging team play so it would just be quick running in and out looting getting all the equipment in the game so fast. This could also be used with locked cupboards/chests/gun cabinets.

Building Entry- With a few buildings that are unlocked or with open doors you can walk in and loot like normal. But then there are buildings with locked doors such as a military base barracks or just some person house, and you have to break in depending on what they're using for a lock. Also having it so if you have another person helping you break in is easier.

Padlocks- Using an axe, crowbar, or some type of tool with enough force to break it open. If you really wanted using a gun to shoot the lock with a chance of shrapnel from it (mythbusters) hitting you and causing minor fleshwounds.

Normal door lock- Using bobby pin or some other type of pick locking tool, smashing down a door again with some type of tool like an axe(attracts zombies making lots of sound and leaves no defence when inside the building as it would destroy the door). Or if you have another person with you it would be possible to kick down or force the door down making a lot faster but loud entry encouraging team play to go looting with friends.

Door Defense- The doors right now are useless as zombies just walk through them, if they were to make it so you could lock the door keeping zombies away temporarily until they break/knock down the door. Why not have it so you could have your teammate pushes against the door giving you more time to loot again encouraging team play as it would be much safer with others going in towns looting.

I agree with the OP. Doors should be more interactive. You could use an axe or a chainsaw to cut through a wooden door.
