The calm down thread ( current 1.7.1)

Recommended Posts

I've been reading for about 2 hours now and there seem to be some issues with the patch.

Some are technical issues, so yes... we are still in alpha that is going to happen.

- Zombies spawning too fast (rocket is already working on it)

The others are player style issues. The patch is to make things harder so you can't waltz right into a town, 20+ zombies, and take whatever you want.

For that, I say, try the following things, slow down, go prone, and learn your environment.

Edit: You have a flashlight, chemlights, flares, and night vision. So, you either use them or don't play at night. If you want to play at night, those are the options presented. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean the is totally broken.

And there is your unofficial PSA.

problem is even prone is not even working all that well. I was prone behind barbwire and sandbags and a zed on the other side "saw" me and agroed.

Also, The hide mechanic isn't working at all and even going through houses just leaves ZED stuck at the entrances and while you're trying to hide you just end up agroing more zed lol.

LOL. I hit a deer stand after the patc last night. Killed 3 zeds... another 2 popped up... killed them... then it was a freaking terror spawn from hell.

I made it into a building with like 20 behind me!

This is actually pretty constructive feedback, I hope the devs see it.

Currently for me the greatest "anti-game" part of 1.7.1 is trying to get this thing running at all, the latest beta patch has somehow seriously borked my Steam Install. Maybe running an alpha mod on a beta version isn't the best idea after all.

The game/mod version fragmentation happening is also something that needs to be taken care of, even things like difficulty level and 3rd person/crosshair should be unified across all servers.

Unfortunately ARMA II still has no integrated updater or version management. Also Gamespy Browser is the worst. I seriously hope it will not be a part of ARMA III.

Steam gets their patches from BIS and they normally don't do betas, only confirmed patches. So, that may be where the issue is coming from.

That will occur later once Rocket determines what the unified difficulty will be.

Yeah, with betas it is normally you manually download and test. I normally don't play any beta patches and wait for other people to test the stuff out and wait for a confirmed patch. They do it this way so you aren't forced to test beta patches.

I spawn in wilderness, that's all my problems is. I don't like that, I don't plan on walking 2 hours to get out of it.

Yeah, I know I read the thread and agree. The LOS and memory wipe at the same time is an issue. That is why I suggested to bring back stamina. Stamina is currently off, as far as I can tell, which is probably why we can run forever and never slow down. With stamina on you couldn't run that much the infected would catch you.

I realize this isn't the best solution, but it is probably the fastest to implement, there really needs to be a temporary memory based on distance from the target. The closer you are, the longer the infected can remember the target.
