What is weapon "PUT"

So recently, I have been playing on private hive servers that have edited vehicle spawns and stuff. It also displays a message after someone dies saying who they were killed by, and what weapon they were killed with. Recently, I have seen some "questionable" players who were killing people with something called "PUT". I once found the body of this player (after he rammed his helicopter into mine...I survived!) and he had the best stuff you can get in the game. After he died, he immediately killed someone with weapon "PUT". He claims this happens when you kill someone with a mounted gun from a truck or helicopter. That is wrong, for if you kill someone with a mounted gun on a vehicle, it calls is "NULL"...not "PUT".

Thoughts or explanations?
