1.7.1 Zombies see too well. Game no fun.

Fan of the game. Was looking forward to 1.7.1, the idea of starting without a gun seemed neat, and I wanted to see bug fixes of zombies going through walls or sensing through walls.

But I find the game pretty unplayable now. Yeah, I know a bunch of people will say they love it for being so much more hardcore. I just find it virtually impossible and no fun at all. Joined the forum just to say this.

The basic problem is the new zombie sensory system. They spot you so easily, sneaking has become almost useless. I find myself under attack often within 30-45 seconds of spawning. Even though I'm moving couched, the zombies spot me long before I spot them.

I even find myself spawning with zombies already heading straight for me. Can't outrun them. I heard in theory you can hide now, I've yet to have it work in practice, given that once you start running every zombie for 200 metres comes at you.

So whatever the new zombie player-spotting algorithm is... it's awful. I can't see myself sticking with 1.7.1 for long.

Regarding lack of gun. I might be able to live with this if the zombies didn't have super senses, I don't know. But with zombies now inside half the buildings you need to search to find a gun, it seems a bit much. Barns used to be a handy chance for a gun, now they seem to contain at least 4 zombies inside. so they're deathtraps.

sounds like you're exagerating a bit much. Yes, The Zombie AI is still clunky and still is doing some glitchy stuff (sensing through walls, and sitll hitting through walls) but Its alpha and this will be fixed in time.

You can hide from them and outrun them still. Also the docks still work.

Good feedback, now be patient.

As you said, it's been said many times. Give a little time.

rocket stays up for like 2 days straight, as do other people, to get these out. There will be a lull. If the feedback makes sense (ie not the ranting of entitled 15 year olds), my experience is they look at what's being said and make adjustments.

Not gonna happen instantly, or overnight.

Vigilance. Patience.

osiriszoran: No, not exaggerating. Well, maybe 200m is really 100m or so. Joined to post specifically after I spawned to find the super-sense zombies already charging for me where I stood on the beach near Cherno. Hadn't even moved yet.

Others: Yeah, trying to give genuine feedback, I'll be patient. It's just the fun quotient of the game has suddenly dropped substantially. I'm used to creeping around for an hour only to be killed by Zs or PKers, that's the game. But repeatedly dying on the shoreline or barely on the edge of a town is a few notches too hardcore for me.

if you look at the eye radar and ear one the whole general being seen amounts are doubled lol.. i was sititng in a forest and my eye icon had ((( on it .. in middle of forest with nobody about :D oh and crouching..,

something is a bit off but thats expected, collate data from this and tweak I guess :D

Everyone else who wants to make a thread complaining about 1.7.1, this is how you do it. Notice the descriptive title, anecdotal examples of the problem and lack of inflammatory phrases (like "1.7.1 is gay")? Notice how noone as a result is trolling the OP?

Lol Haha. Zombies arent even bad. I just went through all of Krasnostav and hit NE Airfield only aggroing one zombie (I started to stand run outside air tower lolol) You aren't doing it right bruh, Go prone. Walk. Never run. (Unless you see a player)

There are probably issues, but also you need to start getting on our belly and crawling. Prone is the new zone brother.

Go prone and sneak like its meant to be sneaky :-)

Looting is now WAY more dangerous and I started to wet my pants on a regular basis once again.

The first time was as a baby, the second time when I found this mod (sadly just for a short period of time) and the third time is now.

You can't rush for loot now and need to watch out for Zeds once again. Before that you just ignored Zeds by going crouched and bee-lined to the beans while looking for other survivors.

Didn't you think it was stupid to crawl 1 meter past a zombie and not being spotted? Not at all? Have you ever played a proper Zombie game or watched a Zombie movie? Do you just want an easy mode game? I certainly don't. With the harder zombies, you actually have to worry about them now unlike before. They are not just a minor nuisance any more, they are the adversaries this game needed from the start. You actually have to plan your entry/exit strategy properly now instead of running around like a guy fresh out of COD. There may still be bugs but the changes are most welcome.

This is brilliant to be honest, maybe with a bit of luck, everyone will be afraid to even touch their gun within 500 metres of a zombie hotspot.

It is good to see a lot of the highly geared clanners killed because of the new patch, considering they're so used to thinking of zombies as little more than a mere side show. To be honest, I think they should have slightly more visibility, and react to gunshots from a far longer distance (makarov at the level that a lee enfield is at the moment, and work up from there). Hopefully a new faster zombie, which can catch a player who is running away will also be added. Only then will this mod be about the zombies again, instead of player verses player.

New detection system could do with a tweak is all i say, other than this the mod just got a whole lot better. At least make running crouched and walking crouched different. As it stands iIdon't see any difference in visability which you could expect really.

Well, not really. They're really sick, obviously brain damaged. Some shapes anger them, some shapes don't. Prone humans don't, perhaps because the zombies confuse them for corpses.

A few, yes. The zombies vary greatly from one to the next; how fast they move, how well they sense their surroundings, so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

Put simply, my personal taste was that the old zombie sensory zones, the ranges at which you could get away with crouching, or had to crawl, were really good. I think others must have liked it too, because the game did quite well and I didn't hear too many complaints about the zombies not pouncing on you as you snuck by them.

My opinion is that the game would be back to it's old level of fun, or higher, if their current over-sensitiveness was pulled back to the 1.7.0 levels.

It isn't a game. It is a mod in alpha that needs more features to be added, changed, and tested.

Rocket isn't forced to give you a "Fun" time. It is a free mod that is not even near the final product.

I think don't "fun" should be something people are rating until it says "1.0.0 Full" in the top right corner of the game(Stand alone hopefully).

Zombies were easy mode from the start. No good player really worried about them before this patch. I am not talking about the realistic part of it, I can put a story that fits behind everything I say as well that doesn't make my point make more or less sensible. The point is, zombies were way way too easy to avoid. Quiet a few people were actually complaining about how this is a zombie game and how you barely, if ever have to worry about zombies.

I hadn't realized until today that so many pussies were playing this game tbh. :-/
