This morning i spawn in Wilderness 2hours off the map and left all my food and drink in back in the tent apart from 1 of each. Some guy shoots me in the wilderness BAM! - DEAD.

No biggy i like starting again ive been alive almost a week or so. Fresh start do me good.

So i saw the new patch was out, installed it.

And start without a gun :D just painkillers and a bandage and i have to say the zombies aggro from miles away but you can get away from them! haha this is awesome!

I saw alot of whine threads on the forums about this new patch but i have to say this is the best patch so far!

So you wake up in a zombie apocalypse, what makes you think you would wake up armed with a pistol plenty of ammo, morphine bandages and food to last a few dayz?

What makes you think you just "woke up in a zombie apocalypse"? How much sense does that make? You went to sleep, woke up the next day and most of the population is dead or gone and the rest are zombies and the entire country looks like waste land. Really?

It isn't "authentic/realistic" to spawn without a weapon and some basic supplies. And the reasoning is simple:

The point where one first spawns into the DayZ world is sometime after the infection began, how long we don't know yet because Rocket hasn't told us the back story.

But it is evident from looking around the map, the condition of towns etc. that it has been a few days or weeks since the infection began.

We "survivors" represent the people of Chernarus who did not become infected and we have survived these first few days/weeks with nothing but a bandage, a flashlight and an aspirin? Really? If we were so stupid as to not be able to gather any more supplies than that we would more likely would have ended up a Zed rather than a "survivor".

The very word "survivor" carries the connotation of a resourceful person and a resourceful person would not be wandering around Chernarus with nothing but a bandage, a flashlight and an aspirin!

If the game started out as the infection began it would make sense to start with nothing and start gathering supplies then, but since it starts well after the infection began it makes sense that a "survivor" would already have gathered at least the basics.

And one more thing, once people have gather the basics again they are now going to do everything possible to avoid dying and starting over "naked". That means trust will be at an all time low and PvP at an all time high. Shoot on sight will be the norm. Even more so than it is now.

READ SLOWLY SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND

Once someone FINDS a gun and other basics they will be MORE DETERMINED THAN EVER to not loose what they have and therefore they will be even MORE likely to shoot anyone they come across.

Isn't it obvious that most players have been paranoid of late and isn't it also obvious that this will make them more so????

Yeah, i agree with the lack of equipment being a hassle. It means you have no back story.

I think new players are just going to give up pretty quick. The noob screams will be painful to listen to on side channel.

Lets hope this no weapons experiment of Rocket's doesn't last long.
