How do you get Dayz to work these days?

Recommended Posts

The Method I used to use doesn't work any more, just wonder what the process is now?

I used to install OA + Arma 2 and then transfer the dayz files over in @DayZ and then in Addons. Then I'd installed 1.62 and the latest beta patch and copy and paste the beta .exe over and then put the shortcut -beta=Expansion\beta;ca;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@DayZ;ca -nosplash in the launch options of OA and launch combined op. Only now the Combined ops option is gone and there is only a OA option. I think it was combined ops but I might be getting it confused with another game, in which case it was named something similar. There is a new beta install in Steam now which I'm not going to touch.......

How do I get the game to work now? Never known a game to require 130IQ to install lol.

Download dayzcommander it will simplify everything by loads. Once you have it installed you will notice a Install/update section on the toolbar to get all your versions and maps up to speed. From there load straight into your preferred server from the search option.

How do I do it without this shit though, I don't like to install things.

You don't like to install things yet you say you prefered the old way of doing things better?

Well, I just started re-playing DayZ after months, and I used to do the exact things you did. TRUST ME, do yourself a favor and install DayZ commander. You can update everything right on a tab, the arma2 beta, dayz version, EVEN individual fanmade DayZ maps like Namalsk and Fallujiah! PLUS, if it's the Steam overlay you want, then there is an option on DayZCommander itself that will accomodate you. So, like I said save yourself the trouble and spend the 30 seconds it takes to download DayZCommander, you'll thank us later.

Is there a no install version of Dayz Commander?

I'm just very OCD with my PC, I don't like to have loads of stuff installed, I like to just have no install stuff from torrents.

Just install DayZCommander. It's alot less hassle, tells you when there is a update for Dayz / Arma and generally cuts out all the ball ache with updating it.

If it's space you're concerned about aswell, it's only 4mb.

It installs the latest ARMA 2 patch and replaces the normal .exe with the BETA exe ( if you tick the box in settings ) It installs the latest DayZ files without having to download them, extract them and delete the old ones, and you can join servers through it.

Otherwise it means editing ARMA 2's CMD files and unnecessary, un-needed fucking around. Specially when the Standalone is due out Über soon.
