*New* Community Run Game Type |FactionZ|

Greetings all,

You may know me from running a few public servers; US 228-231 and US2252-2255. Along with various Private Hive servers under the name of VigilantAddiction; or 'servers.VigilantAddiction.com' in the servers list. Well, through those servers over the course of these past few months, a community was established of mature and legit Gamers just looking to have fun. They started brainstorming and came up with a new game style they coined as "FactionZ".

Now, generally I personally hate to 'toot my own horn' or advertise things I'm doing until I'm blue in the face; but since all I did was give them a server and set it up to their liking... it's not really *my* own thing to 'toot'.

"FactionZ" is pretty much your standard DayZ setup but with, gasp, you guessed it... Factions. The (currently small) community created a map and some guidelines/rules that morphed the game into a little something more than what it was. It seems to allow for a little more 'roleplay' and 'tactical' communication and teamwork. It also seems to be building "Gamerships" (Gaming Relationships) with new people and making new friends (Yay!). I personally don't play (because I administrate it) so I can't comment directly in that regards but I can say that the guys (and gals) seem to be having a blast playing it and they want *more* people to join in. The community is discussing various 'events' to run and play on the FactionZ servers; that pits Faction against Factions for various prizes in-game, like a bonus Helicopter, weapons, munitions and other agreed upon prizes. We do not like to 'spawn' in items; as we like to keep the game as 'real' as possible so generally the prizes from events are gathered up by the Factions and put together as their 'entry' fee in a winner-takes-all event. (like both arrive at the event in their Helicopters; however only one Faction will leave with both, losers walk!) We have a scoreboard in the works with various stats we hope to track.

We have bigger plans for this; hoping to open up a 'FactionZ' server for each map out there and even creating/modifying a map or two with some new buildings to really push forward the appeal of a 'Safe Zone'. These servers are generally maintained by donations from the community and myself so they will *always* be online as long as there is a demand for them. Of course, we plan to have Standalone Server if/when possible as well to continue on when the time comes.

The server location is in Seattle (West Coast US) and the Timezone is set for +10GMT for all the servers.

Pending popularity/requests I could look into purchasing a dedicated box in other locations as well; but by then would likely be for the Standalone version when it releases.

great concept and example of emergent gameplay.i think dayz needs something to bring players together and create a sense of community.well..thats what i would like to see anyway.

sadly , i am in europe and i might get a crappy ping , but i'll check it out none the less.

I play on this server, and let me tell you....

FINALLY! some epic close quarters firefights in DayZ! yes, yes, we have all done the solo sniper thing, camping Cherno or Electro... and yes, yes, we have all taken our little groups of friends and tea-bagged other noobs that band together like fish in a barrel...

ENTER... a hostile environment, where DOZENS of players run player created missions! Be it a vehicle convoy to one of the Hospitals to resupply the medical tents, or a recon detachment tasked with OPFOR harassment... DayZ FactionZ is a ton of fun!

Share in Faction loot tents, get outfitted in minutes, and get picked up by helo! Shared vehicles (some, dont touch my SUV, lol), shared AND private tents... plus a huge part of the map that is a FACTION SAFEZONE. Hang out, without getting sniped in the SafeZone, have a chemlight party or grill some steaks.

We certainly appreciate all the new faces that stopped by and joined the community and 'FactionZ' server. We hope to open up more maps in the future if popularity increases toward this kind of DayZ 'Style'. We certainly will be carrying over to the 'Standalone' servers if it's possible, of course. (Hope so!) Come stop in and check things out; we've been up and running for almost half a year now and won't just up and vanish.

Come join us for "Hunt the Treasure Zombie!"

This is where, I the admin, spawn in with various load-outs of goodies on me. I can only shoot other zombies and I cannot shoot players. As I'm running around I give out clues to where I am over side chat.

We do this on our FactionZ server so both Factions usually take out their Helicopters or end up getting in fire-fights over the loot I carry.
