Faggala 29 Posted December 12, 2012 Too me the arma 2 engine does have fairly good graphics but to me it feels like it's missing more cinematic/polished aspects. Theres a lot of awkward and silly looking things and bugs, I'm also guessing that the standalone will basically be the same with graphics since it's using almost the same engine. My idea is just to add more finisher graphical effects such as I'm guessing the easiest one to add in shaders. You could turn these off in the options or there could just be one but they would havedifferenthttp://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn297/VIRUSsea/117shader4.jpgThe one in this picture is sepia but other ones such as grey filters or a more darker tinged one with a bit a dramatic overdose of red for blood could add greatly to dayz. Or even just adding different lighting like in this video I'd just like something to make the graphics of the game feel more overall finished. It would add to the already awesome experience of DayZ creating more feeling and character into the game.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) It's actually using a pretty different engine that will make some fundamental changes to the core of the game and how things work. Offering you any specifics would be pure speculation though when it comes to individual aspects. A lot of work is being done to give the world a feel more authentic to DayZ, not long to wait now. aksuduud 64 Posted December 12, 2012 I prefer the graphics in ARMA to the overprocessed BS of BF3.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) Agreed. Here's a good example of the TOH engine being used in a demo, it's important to remember though that in this case it was used for a heli sim. The DayZ engine will use this as a base as far as I understand it but will be customised and optimised for DayZ. A familiar feel but more polished by far. Also remember that various things like the inventory are being re-written specifically for DayZ. Edited December 12, 2012 by Fraggle
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) Also, Arma 2 even now is capable of looking pretty good even by today's standards. The problem is that it's an old engine now and takes a beast of a machine to run it like that because it's not very well optimised, the SA will address this, here's an example: Edited December 12, 2012 by Fraggle
