Prone animation ( problems )

I was ontop of a roof sitting still about 5 feet from the edge just surveying the area. I spot an enemy player close by so i decide to prone. So I press the prone key but instead of going prone my character decides to stand up, take 5 steps and do one of those cool action dive jumps into prone position thus throwing me off the roof and to my death. I don't mind the idea of doing a running jump to prone but it needs to be situational. Like if I am at a full sprint THAT is when this action should be appropriate. But I was crouched just sitting on the roof, not even moving at all. This needs to be fixxed as that was a completely unneccesary death. The game needs to recognize your current movement speed and make a "Prone action move" call based on that.
