Patch 1.7.1 - Definitely Needed

Recommended Posts

1.7.1 is the greatest patch so far. The thrill that I experienced when I first played has completely returned. It's smoother, harder, and more challenging. The new features and fixes were fantastic.

Finding loot now makes you appreciate the mod a lot more. Just finding something as average as a Makarov is like finding a working vehicle in the mod.

Also,

-The zombie survival and scavenging aspect of the game has now become more relevant with the update

-The game is no longer a total no-brainer PVP deathmatch, almost forcing co-operative play again

-The community cries about it, because they are used to starting out as a semi-OP bandit and finding the best of the best within 20 minutes

It's a mod in alpha, bugs exist. I am aware of this.

agree. People need to chill with their rage for a few days until they get used to the new difficulty and start playing less retarded.

The only issue with the patch that does cause validated rage is the broken infected respawn issue.

I'm all for a challenge. I like the idea of the changes, but for the most part they simply don't work well in game. The zombies need to be much more of a threat, that much is true, and I like the idea of not starting with anything, but if they truly intended for them to be aggroed this easily then they should slow their running speed down just a touch. As it stands, you can have an entire town of zombies chasing you within a few seconds. Also, I'm not sure if the line of site thing is working. I'm still being spotted by zombies on the other side of walls and even after breaking their line of site they're relentlessly hunting me down.

Well, at the time the patch rolled out myself and my friends had just raided one of the bandit camps - so cleverly hidden - outside of the map.

There they had amassed a tent city, all of the maps ships - no doubt so that they could be the only ones with easy access to their protected inlet.

There were 3 ghillie suits, army camouflage, a Mk48, M24, and 3 M4A1 CCO SD, all with plentiful ammo, and more besides, including excellent key items and the large variant of the Coyote backpack. We took what we could carry, along with the fastest ship, and busted round the map exacting retribution for the many times we had been wronged by player and zombie alike.

That is, until we reached a deer stand with 2 men trapped inside by an endless horde of omniscient, ever-spawning zombies, so we proceeded to put them out of their misery. At long range. With our squads M24.

The zombies, however, did not stop spawning. By the time we left, there were around 30 around the deer stand, and when slain, more instantaneously took their place.

We moved on Cherno, hoping to instill shock and awe into the countless noobs searching, ironically, for Makarovs to defend themselves. The number of times we had been killed on sight by such players, revenge would be sweet and swift.

It was at that point that the ridgeline we were ascending erupted in a maelstrom of fire and smoke, and our sharpshooter was downed by the blast. A second volley of explosive ordnance served to further shock and disorient us, this time, killing one of our riflemen.

By the third strafing run, we had figured out our assailant was utilising the invisible Apache gunship hack. Broken, we disconnected.

The one time we manage to take advantage of the hackers and bandits preying on the edges of the map, and seek to enact our own form of rough justice, and we were slain callously by the very same. The horror.

Well, while I think it may have been slightly overtuned (and I do mean only slightly), I am actually having more fun now. Sure, I've been killed 3 times within 20 minutes of starting, but I actually had fun while dying. Also, not starting with any supplies means it's much less likely that players will kill you as soon as you spawn, because a) the zombies will get you and b) new players have nothing anyway.

I agree, I absolutely love all the changes 1.7.1 brought with it and love the difficulty.

The game was way too easy before and zombies were a joke - Just things I shot at to get my zombie count higher on the leaderboard.. target practise.. I would laugh when I was grouped with people who wanted to sneak into towns and tell them to wait outside it while I run in, fire my DMR in the air then switch to an assault rifle and kill the entire town in the building/running backwards.. it was a joke

They still need to be much more difficult imo but it is a good start.

Only thing I don't agree with is how finnicky the line of sight on them seems to be - They still seem to be able to see through walls, actually at a much further distance than pre 1.7.1 but I'm sure this will be hotfixed.

They also respawn way too fast, I would love having even 3x the amount of zombies that are here now but would also love if they stayed dead for a while after clearing them.

What a waste of ammo, I'm surprised you have any ammo at all if that is your usual tactic.

Also, you started out earlier completely backing the patch and everything with it, but ive watched you slowly change what you say bit by bit and now you are both loving the patch and agreeing with what people have a problem with what the new patch brought. If the game is too easy for a majority of people, then its too easy, I get that. But if a change makes it too over the top and even the die hard "elite" players comment on these factors, that there needs tweaking, then there is an mutual agreeance that the update does have a few issues and needs some things worked out. Make up your mind switch, you are confusing the heck out of me contradicting yourself XD
