So I was playing about 6 hours ago and made my way into one of the barracks. I come home now and since what I've read from other players' feedback is that I am royally fucked and will never make it out of the barracks. Think it's possible for me to make it out?

Your best bet might be to join a fairly quiet night time server, and hope to creep out. A full daytime server and you're most likely going to be PVP toast.
