honeyiscool 2 Posted December 9, 2012 Greetings,I have recently spent some time playing during night time and have been browsing some topics concerning this on the forums when the idea popped up in my head. I am not sure if it has been suggested before but in my opinion a system for biological night vision would be fairly easy and a great feature to implement in the stand-alone.As most of us know we humans have poor night vision and it takes us 30 minutes generate optimal night vision when in the dark. If exposed to a bright spectrum of light we loose our night vision and it would take additional 30 minutes in the dark to regenerate it fully.I think this would be a cool and easy to implement feature in the Day Z standalone. Walking in forests by night is pitch black at first but after fifteen minutes or so we may start to make dusky shapes in the half-dark. After a full thirty minutes we are at least able to make out contours of trees and bushes for better navigation.Thoughts?
geostabler@gmail.com 1 Posted December 9, 2012 Log on in the night, flash a torch and wait. You actually already have this, its about 10 mins to get your full vision back.Issue is ARMA was designed for realism and walking through a forest at night without light (I have done this) IS very dark, they do need to make nights a lil bit lighter IMO to make the game more playable however as without NVGs night is nasty

Need to fix that first.
maxnmike 134 Posted December 9, 2012 First, flashlights and chem lights are buggy as hell indoors.Second, sometimes the night is just way too dark to play.Fix the night and people won't need to turn up the gamma and brightness.

Shadow Man 142 Posted December 9, 2012 This a tricky one for me. When there is a moon then yes you can see quite well. With a full moon and no cloud you can see surprisingly well. But with no moon at all, it really is as dark as DayZ portrays. In real life you would not know where the hell you were if you wandered around without using a torch. Why would peole be out in the pitch dark looking for loot anyway? Maybe because there's less chance of anyone else being around, but then someone else could be doing the same thing. The night time gameplay in DayZ is quite realistic if you ask me. People you try it, walk through a wood at midnight when there is no moon and see how well you can see without a torch. The one thing I would say about DayZ is the way the guy uses his torch, waving it about like a retard while running. Make turn on/off a mouse click too.
