Tent placement

Just found a tent, got excited with the anouncement that now you can place tents anywhere. I went to a hill and tried to place it there. Couldnt. Went to a open space, still couldnt. Tried flat, open plain without any trees, still couldnt.

Any tip or information I should know? Anyone was able to place a tent since 1.7.1 came out?

The tent fix doesn't appear to have taken hold. Ranges around tents are still large. Tried various places, forested, non-forested near trees/bushes, it seems to be the same as last patch.

Try walking a bit with the gear window open and while walking spam click place tents. Worked for me.

Place it on plains-type terrain at most or basically anywhere you can't use the hatchet. Double tap shift to always walk, and crouch after you have your gear open. Move around predominantly in flat spots away from the thick trees. Put your weapon ammo into your backpack so you don't accidentally shoot it. Spam pitch tent until the prompt goes away while moving in radiating circles. Try facing different directions.

Thanks for the tips, they worked and I was able to deploy it while walking with inventory open.
