DayZ code requires addon CABuildingParts

Recommended Posts

I started receiving this error tonight after updating to the most recent OA beta patch and 1.7.1 DayZ.

Some details:

I use steam: Launch CO

Instructions for proper use says to use the Launch beta .exe file from the OA directory. Clicking that is when I get the above error.

Suggested workaround "copy ArmA2 addons folder into OA folder" causes other problems. Swapping one problem for another does not = a fix for me.

The thing is, apparently people have gotten the update to work just fine without having to do the addons folder copy. So if anyone with Steam could detail how they updated, what launch method they are using, and what perameters they are using for their "Target" line, I would greatly appreciate it. Would like to play :)

A little more information to add.

I completely uninstalled OA + the beta, removed the DayZ mod and then reinstalled OA (and removed the -mod=@dayz parameter from the shortcut).

Then I installed the beta patch.

I used the Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch.exe that was created in the OA directory.

The game starts and plays perfectly from this shortcut but it does not start Steam with it (which is fine with me).

Then I added the DayZ mod back into the OA directory and added -mod=@dayz back into the Target line.

Now I get the errors again (dayz code requires addon CABuildingParts at startup and no entry bin-etcetc CitizenScope1 at the menu screen).

summary: When I remove -mod=@dayz from the Target line, the beta version of the game runs with zero errors (but obviously no DayZ). When I add -mod=@dayz to the Target line, I get the error.

Still trying to figure this out.

Update 2:

Trying this method: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=38340497&postcount=6612

does not work for me. Switching the arma2oa.exe files gives me: Error creating Direct3D 9 graphical engine.

Update 3:

Problem resolved. Apparently I had a bad copy of the beta patch? Who knows. I did a complete reinstall of Steam, ArmA 2, ArmA 2 OA, redownloaded and installed 93825 then followed the instructions found here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9314

Loads from Steam with no errors and runs great.

Now if I can just figure out how to launch it without Steam.

I aws using this: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=5534

but I have not a clue how to change the Target line now
