Body Armor, Vehicle Armor, base building and camo scent?

Recommended Posts

Body arrmor

-must find plate carrier

-soft armor inserts good for small arms fire

-Hard standalone plates good for so many hits or reduction in damage depending on firearm and shot.

-Can combine the two for even more protection

-you are not superman, only shots to center mass will be protected and the armor will degrade.

Vehicles

-hard and soft plates can be combined or added seperately to vehicle(protecting engine block from pesky trolls with50 cal.)

-depending on the vehicle is how strong it will be

-soft armor can be added to a car tire to make run flats, which when shot out are good for so many meters at a slower speed before completely blowing out.

AND OF COARSE BASE BUILDING SHOULD BE MADE(even if its just hesco barriers)

Hesco barriers

-add mele weapon pickaxe can be used for fighting or can be used to make hesco barriers(just like axes with trees, no need for minecraft)

-rock gravel and scrap metal=barrier

or

-rock gravel and fence sections

kind of a stretch but watching walking dead made me think that if you could gut a zombie you could make a zombie camo spray for less detection from zombies. you must have in main inventory to work(maybe even like a chemlight) the only problem is that the zombie camo scent or object will make you slowly sick when using it. when in backpack it is properly stored no need to hurt you.

alot on here, but why not mace, pepperspray or taser like in city life.(non-lethal options might be beneficial, for certain situations)bean bag rounds?

Not a big fan of body armor but if extremely rare and it costs to use then maybe. I am a believer that for everything you gain you give something up. Wear armor and it slows you down and makes you less stealthy. Perhaps even gives you less carrying capacity like cannot carry an extra primary weapon or heavy vehicle parts ect.

For the most part there should be few no brainer decisions in a game like this.

Well I think if barbed wire was FIXED then that, combined with sandbags would definitely make a legit base building tool. As it stands it doesnt keep Zeds out so.... kinda a bust.

exactly, cheers on the weight idea. yeah it would take away your inventory, like in real life sacrifices, watch blackhawk down. also would slow vehicle and or take away room.

i was thinking more along the lines of a defensive barrier between players as well as zombies.

Body armor MUST have big disadvantages. These things shouldn't fit everyone's playstyle with only protecting him and don't decreasing anything, like speed.

And remember: One hit in a kevlar can also make you bleed out and brake your bones in reallife. These things can really save your life, but don't protect you from heavy injuries or even dead. Against handguns they're still ok, but when an assault rilfle bullet hits most vests, the danger of dying is still quite high.

Not sure how I feel about the body armor idea. This is a zombie survival game not a pvp deathmatch ala BF3. BUT I'd be ok with it if it had restrictions suggested earlier, less storage capacity and slower movement due to weight.

Body armor should be something you need to put together from other items.

But the downside for the body armor is your Stamina is lower the the normal Max and also it drops faster when using it.

This falls into the line that this type of body armor is heavy and would weight the player down resulting in the above mention in Stamina.

There needs to be a trade off for having this type of gear.

By making it a trade off- then there is not must get feel to the body armor (you need to build from parts)

There are so many different types and styles of body armor. When someone is conditioned in wearing armor then it is much easier to move about and for extended periods of time compared to someone who has never used it.

Kevlar inserts do not weigh much at all and is generally what Police officers wear while on duty. Designed for pistol rounds and also have stab plates sometimes. They can stop rifle rounds as well depending on the speed the projectile is travelling, angle, etc... They won't slow you down at all.

Military vests are much of the same, they use the kevlar inserts but add ceramic plates to the front and back to protect against 7.62 and below ammunition. Usually bulky and heavy but can be fit comfortably to the point where you are actually pretty comfortable inside them. There are also, as mentioned plate carriers. Which is a simple vest that just carries the 7.62 rated plates and are much lighter.

They are heavier so that will affect your speed and nimbleness but without a backpack you could move around pretty easily/fast still. Though they do trap a lot of heat and can cause chafing/discomfort over long periods of time. Add a backpack and depending on the weight that can really disrupt the weight distribution and slow things down.

Realistically there isn't any trade off as far as inventory, primarily because you can still wear a backpack and you can use the MOLLE webbing to attach pouches to the front of the vest...

as much as its a zombie survival game it also is a pvp game. body armor is not perfect it only protects your center mass.

yes kevlar and other materials like it would be good against most handgun rounds

hard plates would be good against rifles

combo might save you from 308 rounds
