Syntria 2 Posted December 6, 2012 Hello folks, Let me introduce myself, my name's Syntria. I own and operate the Qubetubers gaming community which is mainly known for it's involvement in Minecraft, indie-Games, and Charity Fundraising (we're a cooperate sponsor for ChildsPlayCharity.org). We have a fairly good sized staff as well as a fair sized community of a hundred or so active players during down-time. We have a staff of streamers who stream our game-servers daily, as well as an active mumble and forum (though all of it's due for an overhaul. New site is currently under construction). Several members of my community have gotten into DayZ, myself included. I've been playing on dayzrp.com and before that, like everyone else I got to enjoy the wonder that was the public servers as hackers/combat loggers were rampant. We currently own a dedicated box where we host our website, mumble, and game-servers ( http://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/produkte_rootserver/ex10 This isn't it exactly but they no longer sell the one we use)I have the resources, I have the community interest, and I have several YouTubers/Livestreamers that are willing to help promote it to gain new players as well. What I don't have is a server-admin/team who's interested in it enough to dedicate a little time each day to keeping it updated/restarts/reviewing reports. So, now that is all said in all it's randomness. We're wanting to set up a Private Hive (two servers) that will be 12 on and 12 off so there will always be a daytime server. We want it to be whitelisted with AntiCheat and Battle-eye Combatlogging/hacking/exploiting of any kind would not be tolerated however if KoSing is okay or not okay is still on the table. I do think I prefer KoSing to be okay since it would cut back on the work moderators would have to do. This would have to be setup on a Linux Box through SSH. Something I only have a vague working knowledge of and my other server-admins have their hands full with HyperQube and our other servers. I've read some threads that suggest that getting a server set up on Linux would be do-able. I can't see trusting a new guy with our sudo though, so we'd still set it up (via live-stream even with the potential future admins aid) and then the Server-Admin would get a permission restricted access to, ideally, only be able to access the relevant databases/folders/console. If you are interested in helping, either as a one-time help set it up guy, or maybe a long-term aid then you can join this chatroom -> http://www.qubetubers.com/dayzchat.php (or irc.irchighway.net #QTDayZ ) and leave a message about yourself and contact details. Or just post here and we can chat. I need to learn some more about what is necessary for setting up a DayZ server properly. Right now I'm just trying to gather all the information I can, because I don't do half-assed projects. When we make a server at Qubetubers, we intend for them to be successful. Anyone who is also interested in helping to run the standalone when it comes out should also pay a visit. P.S. I hope I put this in the right place.
