clawanorder 4 Posted December 3, 2012 (edited) Was wondering if anyone could assist me with this issue I am having. To start off, some information on my computer:Running Windows XPAMD HD Radeon 4550 Graphics3Gb Ram(All meeting well over minimum requirements to play)The Issue: Whenever I am driving a vehicle/ riding in a vehicle of any type, I get a glitch where my screen goes to the black receiving screen. I try waiting it out but it periodically flashes every once and a while, i can still here the sound of the game at this point. Then it completely disappears for a good 1-3 seconds and all sound gets cut out until it finally returns to the flashing "Receiving..." page.I have updated my graphics drivers and have installed the latest Battleeye client from battle eye's Website. I looked for help on youtube but there were no working solutions. I've tried everything: from playing on very low setting in all aspects, to playing in windows mode on very low graphics. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled 3-4 times now, no difference. The issue mainly occurs frequently when entering towns or high populated areas of players/zombies. Some times it happens when im just walking on foot or getting out of a car. I have tried to wait it out but after it sitting for a good hour i am again finding myself having to Ctrl Alt Delete / Alt F4 out and rebooting. This error happens on both 6 launcher and DayZ Commander. Also may I add in the only program running in the background when i play is TeamSpeak.I'm stuck on what to try next and its making making me angry. This issue is seriously affecting not only me but my squad mates i play with because they have to wait for me to load back in 20 + times a night withing a 2-3 hour play period. If someone could help me with this error or have any more suggestions on what i can do to fix this error please help me out! Many Thanks, XRaplor Edited December 3, 2012 by XRaplor
Jars (DayZ) 63 Posted December 3, 2012 I only get the "receiving" message after alt tabbing back to the game ( my computer is slow ) .I don't know if this helps you at all .
clawanorder 4 Posted December 3, 2012 Yeah it doesn't change if i tab out and back in, don't why.
ast65 11 Posted December 3, 2012 you always get the 'Receiving...' screen if the game has to load some kind of data (eg graphics or AI) in the backgroundthat your system isn´t capable of processing fast enough (or after alttabing when the renderer is loaded new).If you get it while playing it indicates there´s a bottleneck somewhere :/

I understand it does that to load and when it is just "Receiving.." it loads back in like 2 seconds. This however is not the issue, its the fact it gets stuck. How can i fix this 'bottleneck'? rooneye 135 Posted December 3, 2012 What CPU do you have? That's probably the cause of it.

clawanorder 4 Posted December 4, 2012 What CPU do you have? That's probably the cause of it. Its an Intel Pentium D 2.8Ghz processor.... it again meets the minimum requirements. Im not sure what to do... However im hoping that when i install windows 7 sometime within the next week the problem will be fixed.
clawanorder 4 Posted December 4, 2012 I have the same Problem...Nice to hear that i´m not alone :DLet me know if you find a solution, caught a glimpse in a break last night while playing on Namalsk but it happened again today a few times. Just remember when traveling in a caravan with others, make sure that they move the car ure sitting in... almost died today.
rooneye 135 Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) The minimum requires are for ArmA 2 NOT DayZ, DayZ is MUCH more CPU heavy due to the Zombies etc. That's a weak ass CPU, I'd bet if you upgraded your problem would go away. Also you'll need more than 3GB or RAM for Windows 7. clawanorder 4 Posted December 5, 2012 I have the same Problem...Nice to hear that i´m not alone :D Ok a may have temporarily found a solution:Upgrade to Windows 7 - i have read another forum on how this fixed mainly all issues with the problem. (However i may have "temporarily" solved the issue without it, but its not as fun...)Temporary fix? (Not 100% sure, working for me so far) Since i have an AMD Graphics card itcame with the graphics card options. I changed the 3d resolution on the card itself and changed the balanced option between performance and quality to All Optimal performance and low quality. I then messed with a few other option on the card itself to lower the graphical output and lay it more toward performance. THEN i went into the game, put it back into fullscreen (windowed mode, even though smaller, puts more work on your cpu.) I disabled all background programs except for Team Speak. Went into my video settings, knocked down the settings to very low and disabled shadows. This yesterday worked perfectly, didnt lag (much) and even though the graphics were shit it was still was playable and i didnt get the receiving error the entire time testing out that theory. However, i will try again today and let you know if it still works but this may be an option to try out. If it works today im going to declare this as solved until i have my computer upgraded to windows 7. I'll keep updating this until its solved but until then happy surviving! clawanorder 4 Posted December 6, 2012 Well, scratch my idea above, tested again today and i get the same problem. I have been researching more and i found that my issue could rely on how much RAM i am using (3gb). Going to be upgrading to Windows 7 soon and also upgrading to 8Gb of RAM. This may be the issue with the receiving error, will let everyone know once I have completed my tested theory.
rooneye 135 Posted December 6, 2012 I have the same Problem...Nice to hear that i´m not alone :DWhat are your specs? How much RAM do you have? If you have a good CPU, but low RAM, then its probably that. If you have an old slow CPU, but 8gb of RAM its probably CPU.
clawanorder 4 Posted December 10, 2012 I have the same Problem...Nice to hear that i´m not alone :D Problem Solved. I know that the issue resolves with RAM and i will get that fixed in the near future. To fix your issue this is what needs to be done. First: This may help a little to a a lot, my computer has a 1TB hard drive that is split into 2 seperate 500GB hard drives, i copied all the steam/dayz/(outa game voice communications program, teamspeak skype ect.) into the second hardrive where there were no other programs but those in there, lets the cpu focus on a much simpilar storage area. Second: i played the game on windowed, yes it takes up a bit more from ure cpu but it will make ure game play much better considering you will need to play on low/very low graphic settings. Third: changed my graphics card options to go for performance instead of quality (this helped a lot!) AND LASTLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING! I ran the game from the administrator user on my computer, dont know why this helped but i have heard ppl haave had trouble running arma itself without being on the administrator. IF you do these 4 steps you should be able to play fine. My current status: I am able to play perfectly with these settings on windowed mode, since the graphics are set to low on a 800x600 pixel resolution when played in windowed mode it makes it look like ure playing in normal to high settings just minus the view distance. I have only received the receiving error twice and that was today, hadnt seen it for the past two days, however even though it looked like the receiving error, where it flashed and disappeared, after about the third time it let me back in the game, i never had to disconnect. ALSO may i add in this was only due to the fact that i was in a helicopter. I am now able to be a great contribution to my fellow team mates and now have a decent hold up and being the #1 power on our server. Thank you to everyone that has helped with suggestions especially a shout out to Rooneye, hope this fixes the problem for everyone and if anyone would like to come play on my server, it is a quite peaceful server with an average of 7-15 ppl, just look out for a player either named Gregg or my new name that i will be implementing tomorrow, Silent Approach. Will give one last update to this thread once i have Windows 7 more RAM and possibly a new computer? For now, Peace!
blunt_zephyr 51 Posted December 10, 2012 Problem Solved. Having your games directory on a seperate drive (even partition) than your OS, always works 'better'. Bloodred Jay?
clawanorder 4 Posted December 12, 2012 Please let me know if this solved your issues as well. Would like to know if my struggle to play this game has also come through for others.
