Medical improvments

Recommended Posts

Forgive my noobness to the forums i have been playing dayz for weeks now so i do have half an idea what is going on. Ive had these ideas for a while. I admit too much text so summed up bullet points. They all follow a similar theme that fits with the mod i think, downside is it might make teamwork harder, or more of a requirement, not sure.

Blood for transfusions comes from other players.

Blood bags limited shelf life.

Transfusions should take MUCH longer

Add IV kit as item found in hospitals (not medical tents)

Add "stem bleeding with hands" option.

Increase bandage application time, more time spent apply better the 'seal'.

Rename morphine to Splint, increase application time. Especially for solo.

Relocate redundant cherno medical tent to stary. < kinda irrelevant just thought id throw it out there.

My main suggestion is to change how the blood transfusions work, imo it is too easy and convenient to heal people.

I propose that the blood pack be replaced/supplemented with an IV kit ( i know already suggested) BUT the blood comes from the player who is giving you the transfusion - or - a third player. And it should be slow. Like 3-5 mins for someone to be restored from 100 blood (near death)

None of this hey let me revive you to full health in 15 seconds while we hide in the middle of a shootout, or run for cover in a building while your still being chased by slow walking zeds. Ive never had to pick someone up or carry them away because you can transfuse there and then.

Alternatively or additionally , put a shelf life on blood packs, they are supposed to be refrigerated anyway. I might suggest 24-28 hours. This would really mess with hoarders ability to survive in the wilds off tent stashes. Provides more of a need to take someone to hospital rather than loot a hospital and live off your medical tent stash. Possibly relocating the redundant medical tents in-front of cherno hospital, stary?

Would reduce the advantage groups or pairs get over lone wolves, but not to the point its removed.

Also would increase the team-work dynamic needed. How far would you go to help your friend? Sacrificing some of your own life?

Would also increase the need for hunting animals. More animals might be needed if this was brought in. ....Rabbits lots of rabbits. Which animals would you find in the zombie apocalypse, cows ? i think not.

Also i think bandages are too quick to use as well, see point above about bandaging in middle of zed horde, maybe give the bandage an initial "deploy" time then as the more time you spend bandaging to more the better the bandage stops the blood flow, to a maximum which might take 1 minute.

To even further push idea that provide a interact menu , stem bleeding, which allows a play to 'stem' the bleeding(with your hands) while more permanent medical solution is found.....

If these changes were to occur , to provide some chance of players surviving long enough to get the medical aid, the initial/max blood count might have to increase.

Im not claiming any of this will make the game easier, far from it. But i was under the impression rocket was using your bottled tears for some part of this games creation.

Possibly, just possibly, people might spend a little more time hunting animals rather than people.
