Passive Servers - Hardcore Severs

Recommended Posts

Okay, those who read the first line, and bitch in quick reply.

Have fun.

Survival Servers or Passive Servers.

-More Zombies, they have more health.

-Less food and water to find. Less ammo. Less weapons.

-NO friendly fire.

-Low capacity servers, 10-20 max.

-For the lack of 'paranoia' maybe NPC shooters. Bandit controls buildings or cities which lack zombies and instead have these NPC Bandits

---Lack of ammo and food will keep people from server hoping, and if possible make that impossible. Save characters to a specific server. If they leave their shit disappears.

Hardcore or Free-Roam Servers.

-Just as they are now.

If half your demographic is asking for something like this and you just don't give two shits, you're a piece of shit.

Add it, if it sucks worse than it is now for the Casual Gamer throw it out. At least we'll stop asking for it.

This also won't change the game for the other half. But they'll continue to bitch about how this is a bad idea because now - instead of killing people who have no interest in KOSing everyone - they'll be actually hunting people with skill.

Also. Most people who want this are players who play solo. This will give them a chance to meet people perhaps. Team up on Hardcore servers (With fresh starter gear as to keep things fair).

(There's the forums too, if people are looking for a group. Go ask.)

Seriously, go away. It's people like you that give modern gaming a bad name. Go back to L4D.

Once again. No feedback or reason for your negative attitude. Just being an asshole.

NPCs are dumb and their behaviors can be learned. Player enemies are unpredictable and dangerous. Friendly fire HAS to stay other wise this game will fail. Zombies add that buffer to help prevent some player killing. Shooting a player in a city full of zombies might not always be the best course of action.

there will always be people that do it for the kills, that's how games work. it's a tough island, you have to survive. there are only three steps. scavenge, slay, survive. you can't do just pick which one to do

You know... that's just not cool and uncalled for, you made some okay points, but this statement threw all of that out the water.

If Notch didn't improve and build off of his community - Minecraft wouldn't be successful. (Along with his people and their help)

If Gabe didn't pay attention to what his demographic wanted, Half Life 2 would have failed and people wouldn't want Half Life 3.

If EA Games/Bioware had made a better ending, as their demographic wanted their series to end and the story pan out, people would have enjoyed ME3

CoD Never changes, yet they somehow manage to please everyone who plays the game. Just as Battlefield does. In fact, battlefield went from kind fun to something better BY paying their demographic half a mind.

All the Casual Gamer is asking for is simple.

No Ganking.

Or at least something to just play for a few hours and enjoy.

Increase the damage. Make getting hit by a zombie hurt terribly bad.

I'm not a programer.

I'm just asking for something. Along with some others.

You coulda asked nicely. I don't walk into a bakery and yell "give me bread or you're a piece of shit."

On to the actual valid points, though. They are good ideas, and the passive servers WOULD require absolutely no friendly fire otherwise it'd be taken advantage of. It would almost be more like an RP server meant more for getting to know the other players, as you say, and thus doing some team building and prepping for the "hardcore" servers. Right now I don't talk to anyone I don't know out of the game anymore, and the few times I did manage a friendly encounter, it was fun to adventure around the area with them.

No - all it means is that "your" vision differs from that of your current playerbase. If you can't deal with that the door is right over there.

I'm only speaking for myself here, but while the ganking can be frustrating and inconvenient, it also adds to my enjoyment of the game. I actually enjoy having to constantly watch my back, think about where I'm headed and what I'm doing.

I enjoy needing my headphones on and reacting quickly if I hear an out of place noise. What was that? A gunshot? Duck. Hide. Scan the area, am I safe?

Even if this passive mode was implemented with full NPCs to 'replace' the role of bandits played by real people, they could never bring to the table the same level of being on edge, challenge and fun. NPCs can be consistently outplayed. Either that, or made so difficult that they present an overwhelming challenge - at which point, doesn't that defeat the purpose? Would that not then turn into requests to nerf them?

The biggest element of enjoyment in DayZ, for me, is the element of danger and surprise. There is a certain level of realism the current game reaches, where I cannot assume safety at any given moment - just in case. I could turn the corner and come face to face with another player, and he COULD just decide to shoot me. After all, if there were such a zombie outbreak, and it was every man for himself - with limited supplies available - that IS how many people would behave.

For me, I find no point in playing a game such as this where I can assume safety from random encounters with others.

Couldn't we just make the top half of the map PvP enabled and the bottom half PvP disabled???

The most well geared players can actually survive the north while all the noobs have no choice but to spawn in the south. That way we can all have our cake, and eat it too!
