You should post your computer specs. If there's a part that would be causing this we can point it out.

mine does that, but only on some servers

then again, i'm playing in 800x600 on a crappy old laptop, so who knows what it could be :L

my computer does this only on certain servers. If a server has over a 200 ping i get bad framerate lag. But when i join a server with good ping i have zero lag.

Its the servers, join one with a good connection to you. If you dont believe me here are my specs.

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 @ 4.0 ghz

GPU: Nvidia GTX TI 660

Ram: 8 gb ddr3

Also running my os and games on a solid state drive

It does it with all games aswell not just dayz e.g. battlefield 3 , WOW , black ops 2 , minecraft

Sounds like an overheating issue to me...

But I could be wrong, your specs seem capable of running it, on low mind. What exact settings are you using in DayZ?

Some servers for whatever reason give you a really high BANDWIDTH reading - press "P" ingame and see what your bandwidth is ?

Ideally it should be below 100, but over 500 - 1000 will cause the problems you mention.

In these cases it is an issue with the server and not your computer.

Ive been told this alot and have reapplied thermal paste and even got a fan (not a pc fan an actual fan) and stuck it behind my pc and its on constantly but still no luck but like i said its strange that it drops from around 40 degrees to 30 while the lag is happening but then goes straight back up

Yeah thats exactly my point though, it is IMPOSSIBLE for it to just drop 10 degrees instantly, especially impossible whilst playing a game. But that could just be a thermometer issue, and if you have gone to that much trouble to keep it cool, then perhaps it's more of a personal settings problem. Do you have the "Nvidia control panel" installed? and if so, check that everything is set to 'let application decide'. And in Dayz itself, what are your video settings? screenshot it maybe?

Do you use windowed mode with every game? I know that with DayZ at least, you ideally need both interface and 3D resolution to be the same, but perhaps you'v already tried that?

And what about the Nvidia control panel settings?

Your settings look right though pretty much, maybe even lower than you could handle..

Oh I just noticed you have some kind of game booster, yeah, delete that for starters. I'm gonna go on the assumption that its something to do with your install config or the servers you happen to be going on. Bit tricky to tell exactly what the prob is from this end.

Is it a steam version or a retail version of arma + OA?

steam and game booster helped sort out normal fps but dident fix this thing its been happening way before i installed anything as i had just wiped my pc to upgrade to windows 7 and it occured then as when it was xp i could play it fine

Aah, so there we go, the route of your problem, you installed a new OS, from past experience upgrading OS's on older systems always causes more problems than it solves.

Ok so since installing windows 7 have you had a look at your drivers for your hardware? They will need different versions to those you used with XP.

Although to be perfectly frank, I still think it's an overheating issue, not necessarily now as you have a large fan etc, but as a result of over heating before, you could have some major dust build up. Which could only effect certain bits of hardware, which wouldn't necessarily heat up the whole case, making your temp readings a moot point. In which case I suggest a hoover+brush attachment for a desktop or a pressurised air can for a laptop.
