Ideas about pacifism, surviving and zeds

Hi guys,

first of all: I did not want to create more than a thread, this is just my opinion, what I felt that the game needs and problems that occurred on my way.

I am more the "surviver" type, than a bandit. Why just find gear to kill other people? I could play ARMA II too, without DayZ then...

I am really missing a thing, that shows people that you are no bandit! So I had a idea, about the option, to carry a white flag. You can even hold your weapon and attach it on your back. Other people will now that your reason is not to kill them.

So, but wouldn't that use bandits too?

I got the idea, that you can only use it, when you have 0 murderings.

When you accidently shot your teammate, that he (and only he!) can forgive you the kill, so you can carry that flag again.

The system is not perfect, but I think its like 10 times better than now, getting killed while you try to help them *cough*...

My second idea is, that there is a higher chance, to find food and water in houses. Last time I played, we were low on thirst and hunger an we decided to loot a small village. In the end we really got into trouble, killed 20 zeds, got low on blood and found nothing to eat or drink in the ENTIRE village. So much houses and not a single can?

The drop system is way too random.

Well, the next point are zombies. Why are they so freeking intelligent!?

I would not except from a zombie, that he runs with speed of light and zig-zack movement into my face. Why are there no slow walking (faster, but not as slow as when they are idle) zombies? It is fine that there are fast types of zombies, but what about the old school types, where you can kite them while they hobble to you? That would make the game easier, but I guess more fun (in my opinion).

Oh, and a point that I have read here already, but I really, REALLY need zombie hordes :D If you remember "The Walking Dead", there were like 2 or 3 times a scene, where suddenly like 30 or 40 zombies walking together, would be such a epic thing!

I really don't like the idea of zombies spawning in the wilderness (I head that it is kind of planned or suggested in the wiki).

But why do zombies just camp besides houses? It would be awesome when they leave the towns and stagger around in the wilderness, maybe not alone. But now, when I see a house, I totally know that there are zeds nearby... (making it really boring, because I will avoid it!)

And the last thing that really bothered me is that there are no meele weapons. I guess that suggestion came up a lot of times, but why do we have a knife and axe, when we can't chop zombies with them. It would be silent, but hard to use because you have to get in meele range.

That's it. I wrote quite a lot. I wanted to explain everything and not just to write it plain. That's the points that make the game worser for me than it could be, but I want to discuss with you.

What do you think about these points? None of them are perfect, but can we make them perfect, are there other ways or should it be like it already is?

As 2 Dog would say: For heavens sake don't wave a white flag, they will just strangle you with it

EDIT: I do kinda like the ability to forgive a shot. And would be nice with some kind of friend agreement between players

Haha, yes, sure there are a lot of bandits who love people with white flags, but I would not shoot them ;) Because when they shot you one time, they will never ever be able to carry the white flag. So it would be actually really fair. It is a kind of "bandit skin" rework, when I think about it, but yes, you can forgive that player (for his sins :) ). And you do not have to carry that flag with you (maybe it would even cost an inventory space).

white flag should be visual only and should not affect a player's ability to fire his weapon

oh wait, that's called the salute key, and it already exists

You know that everyone can salute, not based on how much he is a murder? And who the hell even look at that emote... + it does affect the ablity to fire his weapon, or is it just me?

What 2 Dog said was right.

"Hey look at the guy with the flag."

Bandit one says to Bandit two.

"Let's shoot him for no reason other than to shoot him."

Bandit two replies.

"Okay!"

Bandit one yells, and Bandit one and Bandit two open fire.
