Any way to see where I am going?

Hi all,

I've been playing DayZ for about a day now and I'm just starting to get the hang of it.

I haven't come across a big town/city though like I see the most popular one is called "Elektro" and I would like to go there but I have no idea where to go.

I've tried looking at my map ('M' key) but it's just all black, and I'm just looking for a way to see where I'm going. Does anyone know how? Or do I have to find an item/object around somewhere?

You can find the map in the game, it's a regular item that can you store in your backpack.

If you don't have it, when you press 'M' the screen will stay black, like you said.

If you are having trouble finding the map, you can search for one on GOOGLE, for example, and try to find your own location.

Keep track for signs when you enter a town, in those signs you can find the town's name and some directions for different locations.

http://dayzmap.info/ is a useful site, but I try not to use it much to keep the genuine experience. I've only used it to help find my friends. Someday, I'll find the in-game map that's been eluding me for so long.
