What am I doing wrong here?

Hi,

I've been playing Dayz for a couple days now, and I've yet to come across a weapon. I've been in Elek, polov (sorry, trying to remember the names). For the most part I run near (not on) a road until I hit a town, then I crawl around into houses and the like looking for stuff. I've found ammo and plenty of flares and other crap, but no weapons (I actually did find a rack of AK-47s in an army medical tent, but they couldn't be picked up).

Obviously others are having success with Dayz and I'm doing something wrong. What do I need to change?

http://dayzwiki.com has some good info about where things spawn.

basicly look in deer stands/fire stations/airfields/etc for primary weapons

and barns are pretty good for shotguns

and try to get to cherno or elektro loads of good things to find there.

Sounds to me like you're just a very unlucky guy.

Any place that spawns food and ammo also has a chance to spawn a weapon, so yeah, sounds like an extreme streak of bad luck to me.

All I can say is keep on looking, really.

As a total noob, I go into the woods looking for deer stands. The loot is not great, but rifles can be had if you're persistent. Barns and farmhouses are supposedly good, too.
