DayZ mid-game crash

Hey guys I have recently been able to play DayZ again after corrupt character data and I was enjoying it thoroughly, but after half an hour or so the screen suddenly glitched up and the sound did also, then the game crashed. Eventually I had to restart my system as I was unable to use any applications without them crashing instantly I tried to re-enter the game but the same thing happens.

I remember this happening before my character was corrupted but I chalked it down to being on skype at the same time as playing.

I really enjoy DayZ and would like to be able to play without a full system restart every half an hour, please help me resolve the issue.

System specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 850 processor 3.30 GHz

8 GB RAM

64-bit

Graphics card: AMD Sapphire Radeon HD 6870

same thing happens to me to mate. start playing and after a few minutes....bam...game crashes...no error code, nothing! maybe it doesnt like our video cards. i got crossfire 6850HD and dont have any troubles with anything else. so i can only assume it doesnt like ati cards.
