Arma 2 free/lite + Full paid OA will it work?

Ok, so ive seen some conflicting reports, saying that having the free version of Arma + the full paid copy of operation arrowhead will enable me to play this game, and then others saying it wont.

Can someone give me an easy to understand/follow walkthrough on what i gotta do on steam and the files and folders to get this bad boy working.

Would be really helpful for a noob. Thanks.
