Gunshot means "I can't sneak properly, come and get me" so I suggest you to ambush the guy and see if he's a bad guy.

And to add, I had a motorcycle, GAZ and Tractor go past me, when I got to Balota. I was in the houses right next to the road, I heard some engine noises and I hit the floor in 1 second. They went right past me, I was scared as hell :D
