US Beta Servers

Ive noticed that a few of the US servers wont let you log on without a beta expansion?

Forgive my ignorance but what is the Beta expansion and what purpose does it serve? Is it any different? Offer anything different to the DayZ experience? Just curious.

Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere, I searched the forums and couldn't find anything that really answered my questions.

It's just a patch for ArmA that's in beta stage. It has bug fixes, etc. to the game and there shouldn't be anything different about the DayZ experience when playing on those servers.

They're servers running the beta patch. It basically means that the lazies who won't install it can't get onto those servers. That's why there are usually 25/50 slots available.

It's a real PITA to install it if you're working around Steam, though. Luckily my copy was bought at Walmart when Combined Ops first came out. ;)
